Homelander (otherwise known as Mercury Anderson) has often been seen as a distant person that doesnβt interact with others. Even as a child, Mercury didnβt like to stretch out of his personal space & bubble to meet new people. Due to the crash of his ship from space down to earth, the Qisirian had forgotten his prime purpose of coming to Earth and suffered from severe head trauma. He never felt like he fit in with other children and was often bullied by others for being a βfreakβ. However, he soon meets Mira Troy (War Woman) and the two become quick friends with one another.
Upon reaching his teenage years, Zake began to notice that certain changes were happening to his body that seemed rather strange. He started to gain powers that at first scared him but with some comfort from Mira, he started to train with these new abilities. Taking on the persona as βHomelanderβ, Zake tries to embody the notion of an all American hero and turns on his βboy scoutβ charm. Heβs more open about himself and even acts in total confidence that heβll save the day when times seem troubling. His talent to instantly go from a stoic, silent demeanor to a wide-smile hero often scared a few of his teammates.
Upon reaching adulthood, Mercury had mellowed out and could handle being around people while showing emotions. Though it was around this time that Homelanderβs anger & jealousy of Omni-man began to show. The Qisirian tried to push himself further & further to prove himself better than the older male but did end up causing a few mishaps. Homelander had declared Omni-Man to be his rival, causing him to train and put more effort into his hero duty. Though their rival-relationship was a bit rocky, Omni-Man & Homelander did see each other as equalsβ¦. almost like brothers. Omni-man even took it a step further by inviting Mercury over for dinner at his house from time to time where he met the wife & son of Omni-man.
However, things started to change, the first began with Homelander starting to remember why he was sent to Earth in the first place and learning the truth behind the attack of the Guardians. He was filled with anger & hate that flooded his system to the point that Homelander went to hunt down Omni-Man. The aftermath caused him to go into a state of isolation and to cut all ties from the outside world but put on his uniform once more when Invincible called upon him for training.

Qisirian Physiology:
βAs a Qisirian, Homelander is undoubtedly stronger and faster than any human on the planet due his natural capabilities. Right now the Qisirians are in near extinction because of the Viltrum Empire planetary conquest and had nearly wiped out their entire race. They were a warrior race, much like the Viltrumites, but werenβt as strong as them yet they did have more advanced technology that was used to enhance and mutate their genes. Homelanderβs parents had their DNA mutated that was later passed down to their son which in turn allowed Homelander to gain powers.

β Anger Issues - Homelander often doesnβt allow his emotions to control his actions but there a few occasions that he loses the hold on his anger, one of this incident was when news of Omni-man beating Invincible to near death reached his ears caused the Qisirian to rush on the scene to fight the older Viltrumite.
β Hubris - Being a hero & often referred to as the βworldβs second greatest heroβ causes him to direct some anger and jealousy towards the number one hero that everyone seemed to consider at time to be - Omni~Man.
β Loyalty - While Homelander can be prideful at times, he does show care and loyalty towards people that he gives respect to like Invincible & Atom Eve. When he gets a call from Cecil about Omni-manβs actions in murdering the Guardians and currently beating Invincible to near death, Homelanderβs trust in Omni-man was broken and took a long time for the bridge between them to be rebuilt.
βMental Restrictions - To be able to live among humans more easier, Homelander had created mental barriers to limit just how much power to use during fights and so not to harm others.

The Qisirians lived on a planet known as Quinn, a world that was a mixture of harsh environments and rich resources. The people were a warrior race that believed that a perfect soldier needed both a strong body and sharp mind. While not on the same level as the Viltrumites, they were superior to other civilizations and even appeared to be more technological advance then the Viltrum Empire. However, they did have to come face to face with the Viltrumites during their planetary conquest to spread out their Empire. Using their advancements in Technology, the Qisirians enhanced/mutated their genes in order to gain an upper hand against the Viltrumites.
This did lead to the war becoming equal as both sides began to lose numbers and had heavy casualties that caused a ceasefire. The Viltrumites retreated for the moment while the Qisirians were already planning ideas to combat them next time. However, due to the war, Quinnβs core was becoming unstable and the surviving members needed to find a new world to inhabit. Newborn Qisirians would be sent out into the galaxy far and wide in search for a suitable planet that the people could use. Each one was programmed with a simple task: to conquer and eradicate the species living on the planet. One spacecraft found its way to Earth but ended up crash landing hard enough that it caused the passenger to gain head trauma, losing all memories of his mission.
He would later be found by a young couple who took him and raised the alien child as their own flesh & blood due to certain situations that wouldnβt allow them to have kids of their own. Mercury βZakeβ Anderson grew up in a middle class family, he was a bit of a loner and didnβt talk to a lot of people beside his best friend Mira Troy. When Zake started to gain powers through puberty, Mira told him that he was given the chance to do some good and help the world. After talking with his adoptive parents, learning the truth and being shown the ship he arrived in, Zake believed that Mira was right. So he put on his uniform, took on the name of βHomelanderβ due to the fact he landed on Earth through a crash landing & that it was his home, and got to work.
