F%#&%$#%$%&*@$%@CK MY COMPUTER AND TABLETHAVE SOME CANADA, BECAUSE OH MY GOD, I AM MOVING THERE ONE DAY ifIdon'tmovetoPortlandfirst
And not because of Hetalia. But it helps.
THIS IS THE WAR OF 1812. AMERICA TRIED TO INVADE CANADA SO THEY CAME DOWN AND BURNT THE WHITE HOUSE TO THE GROUND BECAUSE THEY ARE FUCKING CANADA AND THEY DO AWESOME SHIT LIKE THAT BUT YOU DON'T HEAR ABOUT IT IN US HISTORY BOOKS NOOO SO GO LISTEN TO THE DAMN SONG ALREADY. [link]
The words are a reference to a picture of America saying that he'd be in Canada's Hetalia's strips (now that he's a canon country) and that HE'S HILARIOUS.
MATTHEW MAY LOOK ADORABLE BUT HE WILL FUCK YOU OVER WITH HIS BATTLESHIP. [link]
Renny, you are the awesomest Canadian ever. Because you are you. >w< *snuggle*
This was a lot of text for a shit picture.

Don't forget they already invaded back in 1775 in quebec by then general washington himself but he failed even back then!
And they were expecting Quebecers to welcome them as liberators from British tyrrany!
Oh boy, somehow that didn't translate well in reality!
How very wrong they were! Quebec kicked their arses very hard!
P.S: Yes, we were back then not yet a dominion but it was our british North American grenadier faction (Another name for Canada!) that joined the british army to burn the whitehouse and capture the state of Michigan!
LMFAO! We actually owned Michigan at one time! Too bad we didn't keep it as another potential Province of Canada!..... XD
That would be very interesting to call it a province of canada and what reaction it would get from both parties!
No person from States I've ever seen in my life that I've conversd with has never known or shown any sign of knowing or have ever talked about that fact!
But ehh, who cares! Like it really matters that much anymore these days!
Had it not been returned it would be a much different place to live in then these days! But I am pretty sure it would have been in better hands, but of course that's at the price of accepting compromises with the british government!

George Washington did not invade Canada, he sent one of his other Generals to do it (can't remember the name, but I know he got killed and Benedict Arnold got wounded). GW was busy (failing in) protecting NYC. The Marquis de Lafayette also tried and failed.
I often wonder what would've happened had GB tried to aid the Rebs down South. Maybe the third time would've worked (perhaps the Western territories only)?

And america had every right to invade Canada. Britain was kidnapping american sailors in AMERICAN WATERS, AND FORCING THEM INTO THEIR SHITTY NAVY!

Knew I should've put "not sarcastic" in parenthesis. Yes. I actually wonder why some forget (or don't care) that Britain, in colloquial terms, was on ships, stealin' our dudes!

Britain: I'm in yo shipz, stealin' ur doodz!
Sad part is, most of them were Irish who had immigrated to America to escape the Nazi Government known as "The monarchy of England" and a lot of them worked as sailors to provide for their families. And then they were kidnapped in their own waters. Since the English government did not recognize immigration and still saw them as citizens. England was a bigger douche back then, than he is now.

Actually, the British sailed across rather than the Canadians coming down. Also, if they had not burnt it, it would not be now known for it's distinctive white color.
Twenty-four years later, the British burnt down their own Parliament Building. And they are surely very proud to have done it without foreign help. Again, if that had not happened, they would not have the elegant masterpiece that stands today.
Also, it IS mentioned is the US textbooks.
That is all.

NaPeeter In reply to shadowthepredator [2013-10-31 14:23:39 +0000 UTC]
It was Canada, which wasn't officially a country yet, but still Canada none the less. With the help of Loyalists (Americans loyal to the monarchy), natives, farmers, British military resources, French, Metis, etc.
It's all in the terminology of course but since the bicentennial came-round the issues of nation/states of that time have come to light again and it is widely accepted that Canada as a Nation repelled the American invaders in that war.
The National War Museum (Canadian) has produced an internationally award winning exhibit about the event. It's traveling right now and I recommend you see it if it's in your area. I've seen it twice and it's really well done in that it is the best effort I've seen to make an unbiased representation of the facts, from all sides.
I'm married to an American and have no ill-will to them....just wanted to add my 5 cents (we don't have pennies anymore lol)

CANADIAN WARSHIP SEIZES TANKER IN... WAIT...
CANADA HAS A WARSHIP?
Oh Right, and Switzerland Has Nuclear Weapons
...
"You're kidding, right? Canada has a warship?" asked U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. "Like for war?
"Does Canada know?" he added.
"Nobody was more stunned than we were," said Kali Omari, first mate of the seized vessel. "We saw this frigate steaming toward us, and we were worried, but then we saw the maple leaf on the flag, and we thought, 'Oh, Canadians. What the hell do they want?'"

There is SO MUCH hate on that song. My Mom put it wonderfully, "Because Americans are the only ones allowed to skew history". We canadians can handle satire... And love it. Arrogant Worms ftw.

You don't hear this in history books because we don't like talking about it.
It was kind of mean for us to do that...we're not particularly proud of it. Anyway, this is hilarious.

Actually the war was majorly america v Britain and although America did try and invade upper canada it was ultimately Britain who came and burned Washington D.C. Of course this wasn't a spontaneous thing though, everyone got the message ahead of time, so washington had actually been evacuated days before...Sorry I'm in US History so right now it kind of bugs me when its historically inacurate...

And we're the ones that did it!
It burned, burned, burned
While the president ran and cried
It burned, burned, burned
And things were very historical
And the Americans ran and cried
Like a bunch of little babies
Wah wah wah!
In the War of 1812!"
