There is a secret room
That I keep hidden away.
It has no doors
Only one hole.
A hole in the floor
Which is where I stand.
Where I throw my secrets in
and keep guard to not let them fall out.

Sometimes a secret will fall
But no one will see it
And I will scoop it back up
And toss it back into the secret room.
No one must know them.
No one must notice them.
My secrets must remain hidden.
But as my secrets pile up
My room starts to become full.
And try as I might to keep it from leaking.
More secrets fall from the hole.

No one takes care to acknowledge them.
Which helps me hide them away again.
But suddenly someone beats me to it.
They turned in time to see it fall
And took the time to acknowledge it.
They have beaten me to it.
As they hold it in their hand
I feel more secrets fall.
And now I'm not the only one catching them.

This other person beats me to them.
Intrigued by them and interested in them.
I can't help but grow fearful.
Afraid of everything that they are catching.
Knowing more than I want them to.
Holding more than I wish them to.
I never wanted them to get close.
I never wanted them to notice.
I never wanted them to stand beside me...
Ready to help catch my secrets that fall.
As they help me catch my secrets
I become overcome with grief.
For they have nothing hidden away
Have nothing stashed in the dark
Nothing locked away in a hole in a room.
They have no secret room.

Yet here they are catching mine.
Sharing my burden of hiding them
When I can share nothing of theirs.
How much I wish to go back
Back to when they didn't know.
