The newest of my 2 tattoos, done back in November '08 at *Staircase Tattoo in Santa Cruz, California. Don't really recommend the place-- they charge a $100 minimum for any ink at all, which I find ridiculous. So I paid $120 for this 2x2 baby... Not that I don't love this.Sketched it out on the bus ride to the tattoo shop in about 20 minutes. My artist Heather helped clean it up a bit, since I was unable to shape it into a perfect circle.
*Avalon Tattoo is in PB, where I got my first one. That place is awesome.

I love the design, it's very beautiful.
But umm, a shop minimum of $100 means you went to a good shop. I spent $60 on a tattoo half that size, and the shop was shit. I've spent a small amount of money on my 8 tattoos, and I've paid the price for that. Most of my tattoos aren't gorgeous to look at or worthy of showing off. So I'd say you're pretty lucky the shop minimum was only $100. If I had the money, I'd have gladly paid double what I have for all of my tattoos, just to have better looking ones.

I'm not saying it wasn't a good shop. They do great work; it's just that I got an 8x10 color tattoo back in my hometown for $360 and the artistry is just as good. And my first artist was a lot nicer to me, to boot. It doesn't matter how much you spend, ultimately, you have to trust and love your artist.

I will admit, when I first read your description, I was afraid you were like the many (dumb) teenage girls that get tattoos and don't know what they're doing, and then complain about price. But I was wrong, you know very well what you are doing and are educated about it. (thank god, lol)
