Polymer clay and acrylic

Trying to find a material that workable enough for me to make these sort of pieces, but that is also strong enough once finished that it won't break when it's been worn.

Design wise, I really like this bracelet. However it snapped while I was just painting it, so I definitely need a different material. Ideally something that finishes hard and waterproof, but isn't so brittle that even a knock will crack it. I was thinking Silver Clay, which I've never tried.
Has anyone any suggestions?
