Wow, Jess - Every now and then you pop out something truly above the standard of things you normally put. Not that your stuff isn't cool... but this elevates the bar... and I'm always looking to see more along these lines from you, in a series or something.
Not just the obvious lighting contrast, but your choice to hold on to it and then display adds dimension and texture to this portrait... the framing is golden, too. There's an edge while retaining a classic tone to it. The focus is spot on in all the right places enhancing the overall texture and contrast richness throughout the image. Nice chocolaty hue, I must add - Great choice.
Only wish you'd leave in the meta-data to see what you worked with and your settings. Guess there must have been some editing going on?
If you're getting pictures like this just on snap then your skills are vastly growing. You've always had a great deal of talent - its expertise and skill technique I'm always looking out for in photography - not image editing. Great shots are just that [99.9% of the time] from the shutter release [in my opinion].

I have a graphic design background so I save everything for web which destroys metadata, but I have no problem sharing upon request. All my photos go through photoshop one way or the other.
