It's not the animal that turns people on, it's the anthropomorphized animal. The human mind is not only capable, but more often than not, also willing to deem things that we love, be it human or not, as acceptable to find sexual. By anthropomorphizing animals, we are taking away the parts of them that are sexually immoral or unattractive, and replacing them with the human features that are. It's the proverbial "best of both worlds." Now, whether one accepts this or locks it away and ignores it is all in the eyes of the beholder. I hope I have helped you to at least understand why this kind of thing occurs...
