Taken in Lithuania... The Hill of crosses was a very moving experience. Hundreds and hundreds of crosses each one unique. Different shapes and sizes, all there to commemorate the death of a loved one. The atmosphere was very still, eveything was covered in snow...Related content

I must disagree with your photo comment; croses are brought there for various reasons; not only for the dead. People bring them if someone is ill, at their wedding to bring luck, some crosses are brought as a thanks for the miracles which happened etc. There were people, who built big crosses themselves and carried them(on foot!) all the way to the hill and this was simbolical sacrifise to the God.
It is beautiful place, isn't it?
