There are times when I wished I had a longer focal length or teleconverter with me - this was one of those times!It's quite a surprise when a scarlet tanager visits your feeders. They are very shy, so they approach very cautiously.
The males are so brilliant red that your eye catches it instantly when one flies near you. They are probably one of my favorite birds.
