Description
de.par.ture \ n 1: the act of going away.__________
it happens to all of us at some point.
one way or another.
__________
tinkering with some new textural techniques.
working from a book by maxine masterfield called 'painting the spirit of nature'.
saw this piece by marti m. fenker in the book and thought i'd try my hand at her(?)
technique to recreate it.
also threw in a few of my own.

you chosen a real symbol for your statement - indeed the time will come when every single soul simply pegs out.
the only question is, if thereΒ΄s anything after this moment - by choosing a butterfly, which goes through a metamorphosis, you give a clear answer.
Good work, the colors, light and chosen forms are exellent, bro!

i love the fluidity of water colors, and this medium works so well with your composition. I love the warm and cool color, which is appropriate to describe the mood of departure....the good and the bad feelings. I love it. Wow, I need to like read tht book. haha, good work.

YEA, i realized that afterwards. Lol, I can't read. I realllllly liked your departure painting so I bought the book online spontaneously. But I bought the 1984 version (it was so much cheaper). I hope I can learn something new. Thanks again.

I love the fact that I see a "butterfly", and I love the title --- because all butterflies seem so delicate, so easily destroyed, yet some (like the Monarch) travel thousands of miles, enduring phenomenal hardship and arrive at their destinations relatively unscathed despite the arduous journey. It's similar with humans; we are so delicate; it can really feel like a departure is destroying us; but really, we are stronger than we know, more resilient than we appear, and if we can just survive the journey after the departure, we will come away stronger and better and maybe even more peaceful and wiser for it. That's why I like the colors you've used; the blues and greys on the bottom show the agony of the storm that we might initially feel, either by departing or by having a departure happen to us, but the "butterfly" is lifting up and away from the darkness into the peaceful acceptance of greens and finally the brilliant yellows and oranges of inspiration and hope. So in other words, departure (any departure) may intially cause pain but good can always come of it, if you can just be stronger than you look, or even feel. Can you tell this piece really spoke to me..??

now you've forced to find something cute and furry and harmless to take it out on.
shame on you.

That's wonderful! I think what I most like are the thin black squiggly lines around the head and flowing back from the tail. The bleed of the blues and greens against the reds and oranges is really well controlled too.
