Description
*edited 4-18-13*one more to be re-categorized.
why not.
think i need to edit the description a bit as well.
this one was done while i was part of an incredible art group called 'neosynthesis'.
we used to come together and create these collections called 'chronicles'.
usually there was a theme to them.
the theme for this one was 'technology'.
i guess i was trying to make a statement with regards to enlightenment.
how it's a two edged sword, so to speak.
i miss neosynthesis at times.
the group pushed me harder artistically than any entity other than maybe resurgere.
anyway,...websense is closing in on me.
better wrap this up.

that is a very good point.
however, i was trying to keep it concise.
and even considering how i composed it i don't think i got my message across.
as for tesla, i dig the guy and maybe someday i'll do some kind of homage to him
alone.
probably, with a very different message.

here is something horribly embarrassing: I have no idea who the bottom left guy is.
however the Bunsen burner shooting a mushroom cloud is almost horribly relatable.

oh girl.
the guy in the bottom left is thomas edison.
as for the 'bunsen burner', it's actually the base (albeit badly rendered obviously. heh.)
of one of edison's early electric lights. the light bulb is suppose to 'morph' into what einstein
ultimately helped to bring about,...the atomic bomb.
it's a cynical take on the evolution of technology and whether we truly have become
'enlightened'.
it's meant to be a bit clever as well. edison's light bulb. enlightened. get it?
*sigh*
nothing whatsoever to be embarrassed about though. i appreciate you taking a look.

oh dear. it looked like one of the weird old timey Bunsen burners which I've only seen once...so yeah, I think in this case it's my eyes that are to blame.
Aaah slipping in a pun. maybe subconsciously I didn't want to get it.
No, that's a lie. I don't spend enough time looking at faces.

well, i guess i should have considered that not too many people would have seen an early prototype
of edison's light bulb. it's definitely understandable that it's not easily recognized.
if i hadn't read a biography of edison i probably would never have seen one either.
alas, you are too kind P.
'No, that's a lie'.
that type of an expression/admission is the sign of an healthy intellect.
but i'm not in the least surprised by that.
and THAT is the truth.

Nah, they make you learn about Edison in schools. (Even if Tesla is cooler. )
ha, thank you! Way to flip a compliment directed at you back onto me.

i had typed an even longer reply previously which mentioned him.
then i edited myself. heh.
however, here i am,...still typing!!

spare you any of my further meandering.

think i'm gonna watch 'jack taylor'.
it's a made for tv movie produced in ireland (i think), based on the character created by author ken bruen.
i love his books.
(as you may remember me mentioning about a gajillion times.)
if i don't watch that i might watch some stand up comedy.
lately i've been getting into aziz ansari.
and i'm not just saying that because of,...uhm,...well,...you know what i mean. present company.
he's hilarious! i love it when he talks about f@cking with his little cousin harris from georgia,...on facebook!
ok. that was my last meander of the night.
i promise.
nite P!

Ha, awesome. I need to get netflix back.
Aziz is pretty great, but Russell Peters is better, personally
admittedly I have seen like ten seconds of Aziz's stand up and several of Russell's.
'night!

magnificent and worthy piece of work. As a physicist myself, i love the message you're portraying
I also love the portrait of Einstein, very nice
The shades and detail is also very nicely thought out. Excellent stuff

Your skill with waters and the pen make me ill...and homicidal.
Just amazing. You have a er, thing for Einstein don't you? Don't be ashamed..i understand. Old men with bushy hair and thick mustaches are fuggin-in-peanutbutter-and-rice hot.
Nm that last bit.
i seriously do love your waters dude....very, very nice again!

Well, i think normally i would go into a whole rant about Einstein's intentions and all that stuff, but the message is strong and you obviousely expressed your opinion brilliantly in this piece. Your skill is outstanding as I have said before (Crow pieces)
I love taking the time to bask in your watercolour pieces. You amaze me every single time

Great work! Perfect! I like the concept and the water colouring is perfect. Very very well executed.
Technology has two sides, as someone said before. I wonder if the good side will be strong enough to save us when the bad side starts showing his power to destroy our planet. I think we had created a monster and we are unable to control it anymore...

it reminds me of the classic sci-fi .. the way there was always a cost for any advancement.. I think this is beautiful.. and the quality of sadness on their faces.. (just what I am getting) is so appropriate.. eloquent.. (sp?) ah.. well.. anyway.. this is very touching.. thank you for making/sharing this ..

Yeah, technology is a difficult issue. It's supposed to make our lives better and easier but I really doubt we're that much happier with all these inventions.. on the other hand I guess it's the large population that makes it essential. Still, I often think a tropical island with no electricity and such would be a perfect place to live ^^
In any case this is really an amazing piece - it looks dirty but yet seamlessly accurate. I really love that style

technology just as any other subject, has at least two sides - one good, one bad - one with adavantages, one with disadvantages -
however, you canΒ΄t escape progress, and therefore have to live with such a dualsim
...just think of ying and yang,
good work, brother.
btw: I love it, when you call me a titan, (for no reason)

oooOOOOooooh wow! Not only do I think the portraits are extremely realistic and well done, but I get the statement you're making here, and I agree... it's well known that the inventors of certain advancements never had evil in mind with them but other less enlightened persons took their inventions or ideas and turned them into evil. And some technology is invented just to be evil, but later turns out to be mostly beneficial. Most of our current technology was invented for the military first, for example. A really great peice of art gets people thinking and communicating as well as putting them in awe of the talent behind it; I think you certainally accomplished all that with this piece! Well done

Truly an eye opener. I doubt that Edison envisioned the atomic bomb when he invented the light bulb. Most of us don't think of technology leading to such devastation. This is a very interesting 'take' on the subject. And as always, you did an outstanding job presenting it! Your talent never ceases to amaze!

My only complaint,
the words at the bottom,
I would have made them un-even,
as with the rest of the piece,
the fire looks awesome.. thanks for actually explaining the whole thing, I did think that about your einstien piece
