So, Miss Hilary Duff has just published her first novel AND she's going on a national book tour, to promote it! I was ecstatic to hear she was actually coming to Miami, FL...which meant after years and years of being such a huge fan, I would finally have a chance to meet her face to face! Of course the same day she was doing the book signing, I was suppose to go on a little trip with my friends. After tons of deliberation I decided meeting Hilary was a rare opportunity I just had to take.

I decided I would also take her a gift...and what's more thoughtful than a drawing? I very quickly did this the night before/day of. It's based of her music video "Reach Out" which was one of her last singles (almost 2 years ago). I loved the whole look and feel of the video so decided to go with that.

I attempted a different approach to painting/drawing this time around so it was interesting...but a bit weird at the same time. I managed to get a similar end result as I've been getting doing drawings my usual way lol Anyway, though I can't say it looks 100% like her, I guess the essence of Hilary is there lol I think I ended up stylizing her face waaay too much...but in my defense I didn't have a great reference to work with, since it was a zoomed out screen cap lol

I walked up to her with my heart racing. I told her what an immense influence and inspiration she's been for me my whole life and how much I love her work. I then told her I drew her something and gave her the drawing. When I gave it to her she absolutely flipped out! "OMG! You drew this?!" She totally lit up and was so impressed and excited that I drew it for her. She held it up and started showing her assistants and body guard, while they all Oooed and Aaahed XD. I was dying inside LOL She thanked me several times as I felt my knees go weak. It was a truly incredible experience. I asked her for a hug towards the end and her assistant said she wasn't allowed but she was like, "No, I have to!" and got up and gave me a big hug, as again..I felt myself melt. She is everything I expected and such a genuinely sweet, down to earth girl. What a night! :]
