A soul link is different of a fusion or assimilation; in a fusion, the two beings merge as a new being, the look and outfit of the new being is a combination of the clothes and facial expression of the 2 previous beings.

The only big side effect is that there is a time limit of hours or days; if the two being don't end the fusion then they cannot go back to normal.

An assimilation, is used by demons in order of become stronger, by absorbing those who are more weak, the weak being become in new flesh and his souls is devoured no leaving trace of the previous being.

You two did a soul link, both of your souls linked in order of increase the soul wave length, or like in that fight, doing it more shorter in order of increase your power.

But by doing that, the flow of the soul wave becomes faster, and because of that the boost also took your normal strength. In other words, both of you burned the energy gained in a fast way, thing that could cost to all of you the battle.

Beside of that, there is another fact when you link; that factor determines the type of soul link, if one is the dominant or both share the chain…

I am not going to explain the complexity of the soul chain, which is something that even for us; the Underworld Lords take centuries of studied to understand such phenomena. In any case if one of you is the dominant, the body of the other becomes a doll or even his flesh can merge with the one of the dominant in order of cover the weakness of his body. Of course this is without the troubles of being stuck together, like in a fusion.  But this merging is not only limited to the body of the dominant, if him want, then he can merge the body of the passive one with any other thing… like a weapon or armor for example.

Then there is the other case, that is completely oppositely to the first.

When the Dominant one doesn't want to merge his body, then an event called the string happens; the body of the passive one becomes like a puppet, a doll that will move according to the desire of his master. Yes another thing that I am not going to explain.

The only thing in common in this situation is that the soul link will react by expanding the length of the soul wave or by shortening; when the first case happens the endurance of the linked being increase significantly, or in the case of the doll the energy that is used to move it will last more; but in the other case, the soul wave becomes short thing that allow an more fast and continuous attack, but at the same time this  burst in a fast way the energy and strength of the linked one, a dangerous technique if you don't are wise at using it.

It has been 2 years since the horrid events in where the fathers of Billy and Nergal Jr, sacrificed their lives in order of protect his beloved ones, since then Lord Pain has take the duty of taught to Billy and Nergal Jr. so that they can dominate the Soul Link, an old art used for the Underworld Lord and some Overlord of High Rank. Right now the limit time for they to master this is only of a month; soon William will leave to the Land of Nightmares, in order of find materials that would help him in order to forge a scythe.

But right now Lord Pain has started to hesitating, because the power that they gain is when they are together, but William he alone in a place filled with dangers and ferocious creatures… what could be Grim thinking by doing that…

Now then boys, is time to prove me what had you learn in this 2 years of training in the 9 Level, yes William I changed the name in order to bring more tourist, and yes this fight is for their entertainment.

Suddenly Lord Pain back off and stretch his arms, in each hand something like green orbs are in his palms, this began to glow and spread around his body, the glow begins to fade slowly revealing an Lord Pain using a Dark-gray plate armor with the symbol of a Dragon devouring a person, in his left and right hand was his trademark shield and Morningstar.

Now don't underestimate me kids, this armor and weapons are the result of a soul link of 3 souls, so as can you see I am the Dominant, and I merged with them.

That battle begin, and I was taking an big advantage over them; but I was not the only one that can do the same thing; so I needed to crush them fast, William looked as the most weakest link so I launched an powerful strike with my morning start, but just when I was to hit him, my attack was blocked by some blacks tentacles that start to wrap around the Morningstar and my arms.

Well done Jr., but that is not enough to stop me, and then the spikes of the Morningstar stretched piercing the black flesh of Jr, wounded him enough to let me free. Chance that I took to back off and restart my attack against William, but for my surprise that boy was launching against me and in a blink he strike me and finally kick me in the head, he used the recoil of the kick to back off away of me.

At firs I laughed, that is the best that you can do William, but then I felt how my armor started to crack, was strange how that boy could use some powerful technique and look like as a wimp at the same time, then I began to regenerate the big cracks over the armor; I was distracted too much by doing this, thing that gave them time for realize an Soul Link, Ohh… Crap…

This battle has now become longer by that act, at first I was not sure what kind of soul link has been realized, but when he jumped directly against me trying to hit me, I blocked his attack with my shield… but this one was broke in pieces!

I than see it well, his left hand was covered with necroskin, thing that change his form in hundred of needles that pierce and rip trough my shield; so William, you are the dominant and Jr. becomes the passive one?

Just like the first time eh? , but equal to the last time both of you…  I couldn't end of say that, because the necroskin started to cover the right half of his body, while a strange armor started to make way from under the skin of his left half.

I was not going to let pass this big opportunity, I started to run swinging my Morningstar, since the changes of his body hasn't stop, he is right now pretty vulnerable and open to a direct hit. But that was my biggest mistake in this fight…

To my surprise my attack was blocked, by tentacles that were coming from down the ground. This not only stopped my attack, but also restrained my movements… in others words I couldn't escape…

Now I was the prey, and he just crushes me with a single blow…  I lose conscious and then everything fades out…
