Description
If only I was a game designer...This is a character roster I came up with, if I were to design a Brawl-style Mighty Morphin Power Rangers game.
IMO Power Rangers would be a great franchise to turn into a "Brawler".
The idea is simple:
There are 22 characters to choose from...
TOP ROW: (left to right) "Good"
-Dulcea (MMPR: The Movie based hidden character).
-Red Ranger
-Yellow Ranger
-Black Ranger
-Blue Ranger
-Pink Ranger
-Green Ranger
-White Ranger (hidden character)
MIDDLE ROW (left to right) "Evil"
-Rita Repulsa (hidden character)
-Goldar
-Pudgy Pig
-Minotaur
-Madame Woe
-King Sphinx
-Scorpina
-Lord Zedd (hidden character)
BOTTOM: (left to right) "Giants".
-Megazord
-Dragonzord
-Monster Scorpina
-Cyclopsis
-Ivan Ecto-Morphicon (The Movie exclusive)
-White Tigerzord
There will be two modes to play: Normal Battle and Giant Battle.
Normal Battle Candidates exclude the characters from the third line (bottom).
Giant Battle Candidates exclude the Power Rangers, Dulcea, and Human Scorpina.
ALL Evil monsters (except Human Scorpina) can fight either the Rangers or the Giants. If player has unlocked Evil Green Ranger moveset for Green Ranger, then he too can become giant.

-Nasty Knight
Note: The "Announcer" should totally be Zordon.
After all, the character screen layout is based on Command Center, and its see as from within the Viewing Globe.Power Rangers and all related characters are (c) SABAN Entertainment... and now Disney, I believe.

A 2D fighter came out with the first power rangers, i found out recently. There was even one with only Megazords. Really want to try those now. This could be interesting.

Plus, if we make things anymore convoluted, given all the above solutions, why not also add in the crossovers with Masked Rider & the live-action TMNT? But seriously, just going with the standard six from MMPR, with alternate attire for Tommy, would work best, IMO.

They actually are rebroadcasting the original MMPR starting in January. They're even making new toys for it.

What an engenius idea. My characters would be the Yellow Ranger (Yellow's my fav colour you see), Rita Repulsa (Love her hair) and Scorpina (She's hot!) Have you thought of final smashes for them?

I'm a big TRINI fan (Aisha, not so much. She's not bad, though).
I'd totally main Scorpina and Trini <3, but instead of Rita, I'd go with either Green Ranger (because his moveset is always cool) or Goldar, because HE is cool.
Final Smashes, not really, but regular techniques I have thought about recycling techs used in games, and the TV show. All of these I'll stick them in the description when I have the time.
I know the Power Blaster would be a cool Final Smash, but I don't want to pull the "Landmaster" move here.

Maybe the Yellow Ranger's final smash could be linked to something related to the Colour Yellow prehaps.
For Rita, she could make herself or her hair grow, like Jigglypuff's final smash
And Scorpina could be scorpion-themed, like a silhoette of a scorpion could appear.

Not really. There was one episode where Tommy "White" and Tommy "Green" actually fought as separate beings.
Though I think they could be made alternate forms of each other, like Zelda & Sheik but without the "switch in mid-battle" feature.

Yeah, that was what I was about to say.
This would probably be my biggest issue, so if anything, using their real names (Jason, Zack, etc), or using their color names (Red Ranger, Black Ranger, etc).
If anything, I'd find a way of not including the same character in a different slot.
Alternate versions of characters are a bad idea... I shouldn't have put White Ranger and Tigerzord. XD

Well, Tommy (Jason D. Frank) IS *the* best Ranger EVER, so he deserves it. It would be no different than Undertaker having his Deadman and American Bad Ass incarnations and Kane having his masked self and unmasked self as seperate beings in the Smackdown game series.

Well, you gotta have both somehow. Tommy is practically the most recognized of all the Rangers, and you'd risk a fan-backlash otherwise. My idea to get around it:
"White" is the initially-available version. After, say, clearing Arcade mode, "Green" is available by highlighting "White" and pressing a certain button when prompted. Each separate player can choose "White" or "Green" if they desire.
And, for the sake of variety, they'd both play differently. "White" is all about speed and accuracy, while "Green" goes for brutal strength.

I think Rito Revolto should also be a hidden character. Sure, he was a dunce. But he was also tough enough to put a hurtin' on the Ninja Megazord in more than one episode.
Nice job on the artwork. I especially love Zedd and the Megazord.

I tried my best to limit this "game" to the 1st and 2nd season at most, AND "The Movie" as well.
Another character who'd be cool would be Bulk & Skull as a team being the game's joke character (DBZ had Mr.Satan "Hercule" as a playable character in the games).

There were a few fighting games for the Rangers back in the SNES/Genesis days, but this could easily be way better if done right.
Some other ideas:
*Memorable stages. For one, you gotta have the Command Center, with Zordon watching in the back (he's the guy who held it all together, and I still hate how they killed him off). A construction-site area and Zedd's palace are also dead ringers.
*Cameos from Bulk and Skull. C'mon, everybody loves those losers.
*References to the series up to "Space". I consider that the cut-off point since that's when Zordon died (the overall enjoyability quickly followed).
*NO RABBIDS!!!

Personally, I loved the Genesis fighter, over the Snes one. But Game Gear ones were AWESOME too.
Indeed a Brawl style Mighty Morphin Power Rangers game would be incredible. I'd buy it on the dot! (As long as Ubisoft didn't work on it).
Your ideas are great, as usual, Maetch. Command Center is a MUST, I didn't think of that one. I did think about:
-Angel Grove High
-Warehouse Area
-Rooftops
-Wastelands
-Park
-Amusement Park
-Rita's Cell (where Jason was held once)
-Planet Phaebos (or however it's called)
-Mars (or planet Nemesis, in the Japanese version; where Rita was sealed)
...among many others.

I think Disney and SABAN should broadcast the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers again. I bet it would be a big hit on kids of today!

Well, another idea I've been thinking of is alternate skins for the Rangers based on later series (again, up to "Space"). The problem is that different teams have different members and weapons per color. So, instead, I figured that alternate skins based on the characters themselves would work better.
*Jason: Red Classic, Gold Zeo
*Adam: Black Classic, Green Zeo, Green Turbo (no offense to Zack, but Adam served longer)
*Kat: Pink Classic, Pink Zeo, Pink Turbo
There's also many other characters that could use a rep. Some of my choice picks:
*Putty Patroller (the original stock minion)
*King Mondo (with Damocles Sword)
*Rito Revolto (Goldar's bony bosom buddy)
*Elgar (I can't honestly see Divatox brawling, but her idiot nephew would make good fodder.)
*Silver Ranger Zane (sp)
*Astronema (Funny fact: she and Zane dated once)

Well some of those ideas I did have. But I was caught in the dilemma of either calling them "x Ranger" or by their real names. If I call one Red Ranger, he could have an alt.costume of casual-wear Jason, Rocky, or Zeo Red Ranger, Turbo Red Ranger, etc..
But If I named him JASON, then his alt costumes would involve Gold Ranger, and.. well, his other incarnations as a ranger.

Sorry. I got that line from "The Cleveland Show", and it's just so catchy.
But anyway, I do see your point. Maybe, instead, the Rangers get referred to by name and have different fighting styles based on whatever forms they wore (i.e. Tommy in Green Classic, White Classic, Red Zeo, Red Turbo, casual).
In the end, it may just be easier to stick with the original 6 (with selectable color for Tommy), and maybe add a few "unique rank" Rangers from the later series (Gold, Phantom, Silver).
God, the colors can be confusing, huh?
