Description
If you look through my gallery, you'll notice that I don't draw a lot of humans. Mostly because I'm terrible at them and have no real passion to try and improve. So when I create human characters, I don't normally draw them. I just describe them. However, today, this character practically screamed "DRAW ME!" So I attempted to draw her. I like how the face came out, but the rest of the body is...well...how most of my humans turn out. Wrong proportions and all that. Oh, well. It's really just to show off how I see the character in my head.
Anyway, this is an OC for the t.v. series Doctor Who. I didn't plan on making an OC for Doctor Who. It just sort of happened. I can't always control my ideas when they pop into my head. xP And this one sort of took off all on its own.
Name: Lyrica Eurini Sateenkaari-Amitola
Nickname: a few friends call her Lessa
Name Meanings: Lyrica means "of the lyre or song" and is Latin-American. I'm not sure about Eurini. Sateenkaari means "rainbow" in Finnish. And Amitola is Native American Sioux for "rainbow."
Name Pronunciation: leer - ik - a your - in - ee sat - teen - k - are - ee am - ee - toll - a
Age: 18
Bio: Lyrica's mother, Suzanne "Sue" Miller, grew up in the 1960's and maintained a "hippie lifestyle" throughout the years. She came up with Lyrica's full name the day of her birth and, despite protest from Lyrica's father, went with it.
When Lyrica was thirteen her parents divorced. Lyrica and her younger brother, James Daryl Rodgers, went to live with their father, Gregory Alan Rodgers. After the divorce, Lyrica didn't see her mother very often. Two years later, when Lyrica was fifteen, Sue died in a car accident. A year after that, Lyrica's father married Jasmine Nichols.
When Lyrica turned eighteen, she moved out of her father and step-mother's house and into an apartment with her best friend, Tara Strong. Lyrica used to work as a cashier at a small, local grocery in the small, Colorado town she grew up in. On a whim, she decided to quit her job and go on a trip to London, England using the money left to her when her mother died. Her father wanted her to use the money to go to college, but Lyrica wasn't interested.
While in London, Lyrica meets the Doctor. I don't know how yet. I just know she meets him and is asked if she wants to come along in the TARDIS.
Personality: Lyrica can be rather childish at times, but she's also quite stubborn and intelligent. She doesn't let anyone take advantage of her. She's ever the optimist and likes to see the brighter side of things. If she does get upset, she can mope for hours. She's good at holding grudges, as well.
When the Doctor starts blabbering in techno-babble she'll stop him and say, "Normal English!" But that usually turns the babble into a discussion of what "Normal" English is - British or American English?
Bonus Scene:
This just popped into my head, so enjoy this little conversation between the Doctor and Lyrica!
Toward the beginning of their adventures together, during the middle of some sort of crisis, the Doctor pauses, looks at Lyrica, and says, "I just realized, you're ginger!"
"Doctor, I don't think right now is the best time to comment on my hair color!" Lyrica snapped.
"It's not that. I've realized I keep bringing along gingers. Donna. And Amy. And now Lyrica." The Doctor gets a faint, sort of pouty look in his eyes. "I still want to be ginger..."
"Then just dye your hair...later! Come on, Doctor! We don't have time for this!" Lyrica slapped her hands on the Doctor's shoulders and pushed him toward the TARDIS in the distance.
And before I forget, I referenced the pose from: [link] because I can't draw humans without a reference.
Thanks to for the stock photo I referenced from.
