Got a question. Does Asperger's Disorder have anything to do with how you develop in school? For example,I do have Asperger's Disorder, but the one where its hard to socialize, yet I'm not good with my Geometry class. I hate math.

Is that normal with Asperger's?

People with asperger's/autism tend to have higher IQ's. I have asperger's and I can say that's true from my own experiences.

(Not trying to boast, just proving my point) In school, in every class I was in, my work was better than everyone else's in my class. I noticed that everyone else could not spell, they could not write in proper grammar, they could not pronounce simple words, etc.

When students presented their work, there were some or a lot of errors in it. However whenever I presented mine, there were little to no errors.

I always wondered to myself, "Why is everyone so dumb? Why can't anyone do simple things? It's not even hard! Nobody can spell properly, nobody can write properly, nobody can do anything. I have absolutely no problem with these sorts of things. Why does everyone have such a hard time doing such easy work?"

People always say that autistic people tend to have higher IQ's, and I recently realised that's why my work is 'better' than everyone else's. As a result of my asperger's, I have a higher IQ than people without autism!

So, yes it can affect your school work. And about your math and geometry classes, autistic people can have something they are very skilled at and something they absolutely struggle with.

I hope that answers your question.

I noticed the fact that I never have any errors and it was a relief when I got actually diagnosed with Aspergers
It's funny because the girl next to me in Science can't spell Fuel, and we're all 15 year olds in the top Science class.

I have AS too, something I wish I'd never have, for me it makes day-to-day living difficult since my interpersonal skills are very poor. I suffer from depression & anxiety on top of that. I'm fine only when I'm at home, but at college I can't socialise at all, I never feel comfortable in my own skin.

I did well in school on the achademic side, but I was teased a lot & excluded as I sucked at sports. Whatever I was into at any stage in life gave me happiness: I loved watching Pokemon but still play the games, researching gives me a purpose as I fell, & Minecraft is my happy place.

I'm only a Sophomore in high school (I'm 15 by the way). I do well if I really enjoy the class and pay attention (I'd actually take Algebra over Geometry any day). I just lack being social with my peers. I don't know how to start a conversation with anyone out of my comfort zone unless they talk to me first. Β

If I already know them well then I can talk to them first.Β

Sometimes I hate being by myself, and sometimes I do because no one can bother meΒ

We're very alike then; I don't start conversations since I really don't know how, only if I'm spoken to in a one-on-one setting, I can chat away. I never find anything funny what my classmates laugh & joke about, I just brush it off, but if I feel affronted then I come across as argumentative & confrontational.
I always relish time I get to spend by myself, since I don't get a lot of it, even at my age, though most of the time its in the company of my five big Minecraft teddies so I'm not lonely. But I get really anxious when I'm in a crowded setting, for that reason I go to a cafe alone during lunchbreaks.Β

I just eat lunch in my 3rd period class because I feel comfortable there.Β

There's others there just chillin' and eating too so I ain't alone. I've met my friend there too.Β

I still hate that I'm not all open and out there though. I'm very cautiousΒ

I'm the same: I'm a closed book. The canteen in my college is too small for the number of students there: I just get a cup of tea & run, then get something to eat somewhere.

Asperger's syndrome does not impact your learning abilities. Β However, my social life may get in the way of my study habits. Β But generally, Asperger's is only a social awkwardness.

Apparently, I might have it, according to my psychologists. They're doing all these tests with my parents, and I don't know what's going on because they won't tell me. All I know is my psychologist has been talking to be about it lots, and we've been talking about what it is and stuff..

I found out earlier this year that I was an aspie. Before that I read a lot of books and certaintly related to a lot of things, such as feeling 'outside' everybody else and not quite fitting in or anything, but since I lacked other things (for example, I have no problem identifying expressions) I wasn't quite sure if I was really autistic or if I was just really shy. Eventually I got checked and I have mild asperger's syndrome, and since then I've been a little bit more confident. I've also noticed a few other things, for example, I read about how aspies have trouble keeping eye contact, and remembered how my school teachers were always yelling at me for not looking them in the eye.

I gotta say, I'd rather not has asperger's syndrome, it makes such things like talking to other people really hard, especially if you want to make friends with them. On the other hand, I'd rather be autistic than just really shy, because at least then I know I have an, uh, excuse, and that I'm not really strange.

So many of my friends and loved ones have been touched by all forms of Autism. My best friend with Aspergers, another dear friend with Classic Autism I do believe. My Ex Boyfriend had High Functioning Autism.
I just found out 2 years ago that my father was diagnosed with it.
I myself have shown signs of it since I was very little and even still now at the age of 15 (Almost 16 yay!) and plan to get tested very soon.
