I'm a full year clean, it's been difficult.
All of you who are currently recovering, I'm proud of you. Whether you're at 2+ years, one year, six months, four months, two months, under a month, or not even clean yet, I love you all and I am so proud of you. You can do it!

I've had this on my page for a while now, been meaning to comment :'D
But I'm so glad this stamp exists, I see a lot of awareness stamps and some pretty nasty ones about the subject. I think we need to see more about actually being recovered, showing that it can be beaten.
As for myself, 3 years self harm free c:

I can't speak for other people, of course, but I think this whole counting days/months thing isn't very helpful.
At least it wasn't for me, in the past.
WHen I was 'clean for over two months, I was happy like crazy because in those 2 months I still wanted to do it.
If you really want to stop, counting the time you manage to hold off won't cut it. YOu gotta know you won't do it anymore, change your attitude towards it - then counting the days you stayed away from the blade will seem ridiculous and unnecessary.
At least that's what it was like for me, and i self-injured for over 5 years.

*sorry if this double-posts, it hasn't come up*
Totally agreed! I thought I was the one.
Counting days and the butterfly project hindered more than helped me, because it's there to remind you that you ARE still a self injurer. Distraction and "forgetting about it" is key in my opinion

Well, could be true, I guess. But then again, you gotta wonder if forgetting about it isn't just repressing a lot of shit that's bound to come back and bite you in the ass sometime.

I'm not saying forget about your problems, but rather forget about the fact you self-injure / are trying to get over self-injury. Distance yourself from anything to do with it and just completely distract yourself from that topic, don't even think about the fact you're distracting, just simply do things you enjoy. It worked for me o_o I don't see how that could come back and bite me in the ass. The only way I can see that happening is if I see my scars and I think "SHIT e_e Why did I do that?"
I mean, you're bound to think of it again one time or another. But that's going to happen whether you count the days or not. The difference is you're not deliberately keeping it on your mind and identifying yourself by it.

What isn't helpful for you can be extremely helpful for others.
Focus on what helps you, and do what you have to do, but don't judge others and what they find helpful. We are all individuals, after all.

Thank you.
I'm always going to be a recovering addict, and I may relapse a few times, but I got through it, so that's at least good!

I have a very supportive fiancee to thank for that.

I don't have the courage to publicly favourite this, 'cause it would be too... outright. But I still love seeing it. I'm almost 6 months free.

I cut myself... Once in my life. I hurt myself in different ways now. Not necessarily physical, but I am doing that too. Not cutting, though: Bad eating habits.
I'm still injuring myself. Psychologically.

I went a year a few years ago and then relapsed and haven't been able to stop yet. Though, it's been over a month(almost 2) since my last time.

Aww, thank you. I'm really at the stage where I haven't said I'm going to stop but nothing has upset me enough to make me want to.
