I was inspired to draw the penguins as mutants from the movie, so here is Rico.

He is my favorite design of the four of them as mutants. I feel like he got off rather well with his mutation, gaining the ability to fly and not really changing. That was not a bright idea on the part of Dave. Rico plus flying could really only result in destruction if not contained by his team. I feel that he is almost part dragon as a mutant, or I guess I should say wyvern.

I am super proud of this picture. It is completely traditional, done with mechanical pencil and colored pencils. I feel it's my best color pencil pictures I've ever done. He's done in my style, but I still feel like this reflects his design in the movie. At this angle, I couldn't draw his spikes.

Rico is my favorite overall and I am so happy with his picture.
