USPS, it tends to be cheaper. 
They weigh the package there and it usually cost me on average $15, Australia is the most expensive at a dollar or 2 more.

I physically go into the building I remember looking it up online years ago an nearly had a heart attack when I saw the crazy prices X'D 

If it helps I paid $13.50 sending a cardboard mailer filled with pictures to Germany from NY.

You can ask them just to weigh it and see how much it'll cost. depending on where you live and where it is going to, and the weight, it will be a bit different from what I pay. I always go for the cheapest option, no added insurance or anything like that. Oh and I use the cardboard mailers that the USPS provides.
