We are actually waiting for the link release for hotel rooms this evening X3 oh my gerd its so exciting.
conventions arent too bad, the cost of goods from conventions are way less expensive than they used to be.
depending what con is in your area, out pre reg prices for the weekend are 40$, 50$ at the door.
The most expensive part is the hotel room. for us we are spending roughly 450$ on this puppy but its from thursday to sunday. check in day on friday is terrible so to beat the rush we do thursdays.
we also bought a 30$ microwave from walmart becasue some hotels are stupid and dont have public microwaves
last year was a disaster trying to cook ramen noodles with a coffee maker XD i did it but it was EPIC FAIL
food usually isnt tht badly priced, roomservice is crappy and is to highly priced so dont mock dollar store foods or a 10 minute walk to wendy's because if you lose your parking spot you're never getting it back XD
even with valet parking
oh and when checking into a hotel don't horde caddies, the bellhop carts for luggage, staff will enter your room to take it back when you're not there.
lol and hotel neighbors are awsome, last year our neighbors gave us oodles and oodles of ice cream X3

yeah, i live 20 minutes away from the convention area in my hometown but its worth it to stay there. if you buy a replicated weapon, meaning like an actual sword, they require you to take it to your hotel room or car. its for the safety of the con because sometimes people who have had a little too much to drink tend to do stupid things. ive got 100's of stories so i wont bore you.
usually a con has a rule book which you can access online or when you get to the con, and a lot of the rules they have are for good reason if they see, a tad absurd.
and when i say go with a buddy, thats important too. even though a con seems fun and wild there are some wackadoos too

dude like people are crazy, ive had a guy offer people to stab him because he thought his armour was that to the anime's. or some foolish kid playing 007 and having staffers chase him down.
theres been worse but cons tend to have a 3 strikes and your out type rule. our con punches holes on your badge which is no bueno

no but it was interesting to watch him parkour around the con, i think he had like 5 staffers after him. black ops hated having to deal with tht kid, now becasue of those few instances we have an amt (aurora medic team) of 18 people ate our con XD

oh no its fun talking about them, cons are very joyous, and you feel very at home because usually people are very family like. tho some of the purists are up everyone's ass and are shitting kittens for the week, a bad day at the con is still better than a good day in regular daily life.
i look forward to the convention more than most holidays. x3 its amazing and i wldn't trade it for the world. people get detoured from conventions because of over-zealous cosplayers or just the culture of it all but once you experience it, its like something else. theres almost a heart beat to it.
suddenly the sky seems a little bluer, the grass a little softer, people at the con become family and those you only meet for a day will be little treasures to collect in a pile of memories so bring a camera, sd's and lots of batteries

oh yeah well the con is my time for relaxation and fun. you forget a lot of outside drama when youre at a con unless you bring it with you

our con has a salt water pool, it helps with relaxing aching muscles and while my friends go to the late night show, a panel about lewd topics, i go to the pool and relax, i could go swimming at anime con all night XD

oh yeah XD my sister spent over 100$ doing the buffet for like every meal. They have a full out spa and work out room for the hotel guests. its so awsome, and the spa is complimentary

it shouldn't matter whether your face is "a cosplay face" or not. I look nothing like the character but its always fun to pretend to be something youre not once in a while.
i feel it is a celebration of the character rather than something to compete for.
and there should be a cosplay folder on my dA, if not I'll link some pics in the next comment (currently at school XD)

i was wearing a cage and it made the dress poof. the kid ran under it and the mom went after her kid and apologized. its just weird to have your dress eat a kid
