There was a hearse in front of my house this morning. Someone on the street must’ve died.

A man in black with a skip in his step and a cane in his hand led the procession. Black leather gloves wrapped around the sleek handle. A top hat as if to match the victorian buildings around him.

I had just come back from the store. Barely anyone was wearing masks or keeping enough distance. The day care in the church around the corner is open today. I saw the kids’ jackets outside.

We’re in plague times. This is London in 2020.
