As requested by , who wanted Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie comforting a very distraught Spike while Twilight is away with the Canterlot Sisters, based on a story he may pen one day.The background of Twilight's room was required to show the rainy night this piece needed, despite this being a request.

MMmm, that's so touching. I feel sad for Spike there. He must really miss Twilight when she's gone for a while somewhere. Them two are close together like family. Spike is one of my favorite characters from My Little Pony. Good job on the picture here.

What's surprising is that in the pilot's audio commentary, the production crew actually wanted Spike to be in love with Fluttershy instead of Rarity, the crew agreed that it would made a lot more sense.

Yeah! Who needs Rarity!? There are plenty of other sea ponies in the sea. Wait! That didn't sound right... Oh well... I know what'd make you feel better: A PARTY!

Gotta say, I really like this picture.Β It's a little sad, but also heartwarming.
I don't like SUPER sad stuff.Β I don't like stuff that's about ponies dealing with death or super tragedies of one kind or another, but I like pieces like this.Β Because on their own, they leave the details to your imagination.Β It tells a story in it's own right, but leaves some room for the viewer to be a little creative as well.Β I think it's fantastic when an artist can pull that off.
Hope you make more in the same vein.Β I like these a lot.

I agree with you 100%. That's what I like to look for too! I don't like for fan art to be overly dramatized. I like to imagine the artwork is inspired by something that could most likely air on the show. That's the safest way for characters to remain well- IN character. When an artist can do that, like dm29 has done here, it's like you said fantastic!! Β Β Β

Spike is the cutest. I wish there was more cute Twilight and Spike moments in S4.
I wonder how Cadence and Shining Armor would get along with Spike since he's become like a brother in the family. Or is he like a son to Twilight. Sometimes it's confusing how the writers of this show chose to deal with him. I can never tell but all I know is Spike needs more lovin'. LOVE THY DRAGON. lol

I'm starting to think Cadance and Shining want nothing to do with Spike. He's their unofficial sibling, he's helped save their empire, and they've passed up every chance to spend any time with him.

Yeah you said it. That's always bothered me. The writers seem to forget about Spike in chances where he actually really matters. Like I would have appreciated it if Spike was in the episode "Three's a Crowd" where Twilight and Cadence have walk through the museum and Discord becomes "sick".Β

I'd be more confused and frustrated than sad - but no less upset - if I gained a sister-in-law, nearly died helping to secure her new empire, was rescued by her...and stood by while she socialized with everyone else I know, but passed up every opportunity to see me. This is why I despise Cadance these days.
