Description
I hope I have put it in right category, if not, please let me know and I'll edit it to a proper one. Thanks. This is my progress of bark texture study and umm yeah, you can see I did it on one layer and did it traditional style.
I just got intuos 4 tablet woohoo!!!
It's for CA thread called What does everybody looks like at [link] - when I saw that pic ref, I knew it would help me to get more used to my tablet and at the same time, learn how to do photo realistic texture, as you can see, it was perfect!

Although you use a different program - this method (and even that lovely new toy you have) will work very well for GIMP users

Yup, Although I support and love Gimp, it is unusable for me due to the brushes lagging badly under windows. I've tried it in linux, but couldn't get my tablet to work properly there so for now I'm stickin' to Photoshop. Sucks eh?

A fix for the 'lagging' brushes - is to 'file them' into types in separated files - can be named Brushes_1, Brushes_2, etc... then configure Gimp to all of those file folders. It will load at about the same speed on initial start up - but the brushes will stop lagging when your using them.
