I'm glad I could! Thanks
The trick is nailing the focus... i had to take quite a few shots to get this, if you dont get it the first time, try again, and again........
Enjoy, i hope it all works out for you!

Pick a good friend because well... lets face it, if you have to start using your flash you'll want someone who you can rely on, they'll take a bit of pain if its for your success

I shoot nikon and there is a direct lens reversing ring for 52mm filter thread. You screw the ring on the front of a (usually 50mm) lens, and directly attach the lens to the camera body (front element
inwards). I am using that ring(BR-2A) witch costs $15 used at my local camera store.
You could do it the way you said before with stacking lenses, but the more lens elements you involve the more chromatic aberration will show up.
[The 'macro' shots in my gallery: nikon d70s and 50mm1.8 using my BR-2A lens reverse ring.]
The total cost of my 1:1 'macro' lens $125 + $15= $140.

Fair enough, i wonder if canon make an equivalent thingy...
Doesnt really worry me too much though because i hardly shoot macro shots, and if i ever did i would probably just save up some moneys and buy a pro grade lens
But yes thanks greatly for that info i'll look into it.

I shoot macro alot, but I don't have the money to get a good lens. the only option was to get the adapter. that adapter I got used for $15 (a new one costs $40) much cheaper than the $47o for a 'true' macro[60mm f2.8].
I don't know if canon has anything similar, as I have only used nikon since I got started.

its just getting the focus/lighting right and each and every eye will look like this
(main reason for this is it takes ages to actually hit a sharp focus so by that time the eye is rather stressed out due to the flash , probably isnt really that good for the eye
)

getting two lenses... mounting one to the camera.... then holding the other lens up against the mounted lens in a reversed position (eg both of the front element will be almost touching)... then you start shooting.
p.s. you have to get REALLY close to the subject for it to be in focus and i should also note that you cant control the focus at all so you just have to move back and forwards until your subject is in focus (took me ~25-30 photos to achieve this one in focus photo
p.p.s. you have to have a DSLR to do this
