I keep planning on looking into the mythos of the Kirin but decided to sort of give it my own.

Kirin, the defender of forests, actively patrols woodlands in search of those that would harm the balance of nature, offering them two choices upon catching them. Their choices are to help protect nature alongside her for an unknown amount of time or to die by her hands. While there are more than one Kirin, there aren't many, each forest is home to at least one, rarely housing two or even three.

The horns of a Kirin are said to have magical properties, some say they heal any illness, others claim they can be used to grant a mortal eternal life. These are only rumors, though.
