Ah, thanks Chris. Smoke and mirrors, I'm afraid!

The pipe isn't bent in the direction it looks. It is bent on a plane parallel to the sensor plane. I then post-processed it Snapseed and used the Tilt Shift tool to isolate focus along the length of the pipe which gave the effect of it being taken from one side with the pipe looking a bit like it is bent perpendicular to the sensor plane... I think...

Oh I'm quite happy with smoke and mirrors. Just choosing a different focal length to alter perspective, a larger aperture to emphasise a subject by selective focus, it's all manipulation.

Well, life, that's another story. There are certainly days when I'd like a 'restore default settings' option in that menu! :/
