Description This was Totally Spies other movie. While the actual movie is worst than this, this movie has its own problems This movie had potential. Remember the previous two atrocities I did on this show? The same thing applies for this movie. And guess what IT'S THREE PARTS! And trust me when I say you'll regret it. As for the movie itself, the girls mothers find out that Sam, Clover and Alex are all spies by spotting them after the girls come back from a mission during the middle of the night. And let me point out the first thing, the girls mothers are pretty much just Sam, Alex and Clover, but just if they were older. That's pretty lazy animation, now sure some shows do have this where the mothers do share similar attributes to their daughters, but it's usually just facial features. Here it's a literal copy/paste! Not to mention in a previous episode that showed their parents they look different than before! That might sound a bit nitpicky, but trust me that's the least of this movie's problems.

Once the girls try to hide their identities they get Woohped and their mother's just happen to be with them. So then once they notice everything and discover Jerry, the girls are forced to tell their mothers that they're spies and let me say the girls mothers are just horrible people! What do they do? They completely are just enraged at the girls because they do the typical prejudice "Oh you girls are much too young this is dangerous for you!" Despite the fact the girls have done this for 3 years prior to this! They don't even give any of the girls the benefit of a doubt, they instantly detest this spy idea. Now I know it's to make the mothers come to sense and learn to accept the girls are something that is considered usual or just unthinkable in their minds, but usually you got to make the parents are least relatable why they're scared or hurt the way they are, this movie doesn't do that. Take a look at when Buffy Summer's mother found out she was the Slayer, it does this in a more relatable and compelling way as you could not only relate to both sides it was understandable how each side was feeling about the situation.

Instead the mothers are total control freaks (which have been established in previous episodes) and grow and all out prejudice vibe for the girls being spies to the point where it makes them look just like horrible people! It's literally shoved in the most disgusting way. And trust me it gets worse in the episode. Right after they completely revolt the idea of finding out the girls are spies their mothers are just being control freaks over everything they do, they outright try forcing career changes onto the girls and only pick things they think are the girls interest, but are things they want themselves. Yes they are those kind of parents!

The only sort of credit I can give to this movie is that you learn that the girls do have spy genes in them, when Jerry explains its in their DNA. I like this because it gives a bit of lore and interesting sense of feel of why the girls deserve to be spies. You also feel sorry for the girls and can relate as to why they want to be spies however, those are the only highlights of the episode.

Now we get to the worst part of the episode MANDY! Yes Mandy is in this, and guess what SHE'S THE MAIN ANTAGONIST OF THE MOVIE! That means we have to deal with this stupid "LIKE O MY GAWD THAT'S TODS LAME! EW STEP OFF LOUSARS!" alpha bitch diva stereotype the  ENTIRE MOVIE! Not to mention she's constantly laughing as well. If you thought Mandy was bad in the coffee episode, she's even worse here because you have to deal with her for over an hour instead of 22 mins! And HER F******* LAUGH! Seriously Mandy's laugh sounds like Kitty Forman from that 70’s show constantly having a seizure while laughing like she’s mentally ill donkey and smoking helium of an equilvent smoke addict. It's so grating! Really movie? They could've gave the girls any random villain, and they had to use Mandy as the villain! Oh but this gets worse as she's literally forced into the roll when she and her brainless sheep friends get a bottle of chemical like suds that ends up in their pool turning Mandy and her friends into super charged spy assassins. Yes, Mandy is a spy assassin people! Not only that, but her personality and everything is exactly the same, the only difference is she's being enhanced by the chemical like suds. This means you have to put up with her grating laugh and her saying nothing but "EWW THIS IS UGLY GET IT AWAY FROM ME!" Or her worst line "LOSERS!" Sam finds this out when she examines this in her room while she still had the bottle from a dude they fought before they were caught. Sam accidentally dropped it without realizing it which caused Mandy and her sheep to act this way. After this discovery the girl's mothers are kidnapped by Mandy and her sheep and are taken away to a Ski resort that happens to be owned by Mandy herself. Keep this in mind, as the girls are outright sad and scared that their mothers are kidnapped and probably hurt to them. This will get grating once you realize what happens after. Every single dialogue from Mandy is typical fashion comments about "EWW LIKE SO UGLY!" or some exposition from her character trope as ways to either insult the girls or just be the alpha bitch. People like to hate on Clover for being shallow and have a shallow outlook on men as a whole, but at least Clover cares about her friends and the well being of others when she notices the world is endangered.

The girls head to Woohp, since they were temporarily fired from their spy jobs due to their mother's request, Jerry took away their spy stuff earlier. However. Jerry is gone at this time, so when the girls try to get in Woohp's computer G.L.A.D.I. S  to let the girls despite the fact the girls outright tell G.L.A.D.I. S that they want to save their mothers and need Jerry's help. WHAT A BITCH! Just because they aren't spies anymore doesn't mean they still aren't loyal. I mean YOU PEOPLE ARE AN ORGANIZATION WHO'S SOLE PURPOSE IS TO HELP PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD! I mean they worked for Woohp for 3 years, yet just because they aren't Woohp agents at this point in time G.L.A.D.I. S refuses to let them in despite the fact they even explain to her it's to save THEIR OWN PARENTS! So after that Sam gets an idea to send write a letter to Jerry telling them about the situation, Sam does this by climbing up part of the Woohp building, folding the paper into an airplane and then throws it into a vent which somehow lands on Jerry's desk. So then after that thing that makes no sense, Alex decides to take them to a hardware store when they try and find gadgets. After this Jerry returns to his office and finds the letter the girls had sent him, which prompts Jerry to go after them.

So then the girls find Mandy's ski resort and upon trying to find them they hear their mothers screaming, they find their mothers tied up and trapped in a cable car. So the girls use the supplies they bought at a hardware store, and hey mange to break in and help their mothers, remember when I told you guys "Their mother's have to learn a resolution and accept the girls are suppose to be who they are despite their worrying and scared?" Well remember when I said it doesn't work here, you wanna know why? Right as the girls are about to hug their mothers their mothers DON'T EVEN THANK THEM FOR BEING OKAY OR DON'T EVEN THANK THE GIRLS FOR SAVING THEM! Instead what do they do? They continue their prejudice mindset and blame the whole inccident on them being spies and just claim if it wasn't for them being spies this "life or death situation would've never happened!" They also get pissed off for the girls even using their spy skills to come and save them! You see what I mean about them being horrible people?! Never mind that the girls saved you and used their skills you find a "curse" to save you. This was suppose to be the moment the mother's come to their sense, but instead they scold them. Keep in mind the girls were so scared and worried for them up to this point.

But no, the mothers only come to their sense after the girls saved them when they're all trapped in the cable car when Sam has an idea to use their jackets as parachuets. So wait, you scold the girls for using their spy skills to come up and save you, yet when the girls do the exact same thing using their skills in the process to help you escape you choose to only accept it? WHAT HYPOCRITES! So then Mandy and her sheep chase the girls on snowmobiles which results in an action scene that isn't too bad honestly. Which resorts in the girls leading them off a cliff, then they spot Jerry with their mothers on an helicopter. So then the helicopter causes an avalanche to cover the girls, Mandy and her sheep. Jerry, the mothers and the Woohp agents search everywhere and don't find the girls, the girls are all trapped in a snowball in which Mandy and her sheep kidnap the girls, so then Jerry and the mothers all think the girls died, but once Sam sends out a distress signal via cell phone that's when they realize the girls are alive and want Jerry to teach them to be spies to save the girls. At first they don't do well, then when they try again their mothers become spies. Mandy and her sheep use the same bottle of SUDS that was used on her and her sheep to turn the girls into each other, Mandy is downright mean here. She directly states that even when Sam, Clover and Alex are gone she will torment her friends, to which neither one of her friends even care that she said this DIRECTLY TO THEIR FACES!

Jerry and the mothers turn them to normal, Mandy and her friends free the guy the girls caught at the beginning of the episode, the girls team up with their mothers and save the day. Mandy and her sheep get their memories erased from the events that happened, in which Mandy blames the girls for everything! After this the girls talk to their mothers and their mothers reveal to be hypocrites once again, they say the girls can be spies from now one as long as they don't hide secrets, yet they hide a secret that they were also recruited as spies..This is played for laughs, but still.

This movie had a lot of potential, it had a good backstory in a sense of the girls having spies in their genes, the whole mother/daughter dynamic was a good idea only had it been done better Imo. This could've had an interesting premise if a certain character hadn't of been the main antagonist of the film. And to actually get a villain instead of using the worst and most hated character on the show in which we have to hear Kitty Forman donkey smoking helium laughing Mandy! It's not totally terrible by all means, it just could've been better. It's missed potential.

IN ENGLISH:

Okay, before giving my point of view on this criticism, I will warn you that what I am going to say next, could generate antibodies to me, or open up like a kind of Pandora's Box, or maybe it makes many pseudo-critics annoying, so that if you are going to answer this opinion that I will give, do it without getting upset, and without using fallacies. It is understood? OKAY. Let's start

From my point of view, the criticism of the DomainMorph user is quite subjective mostly, since although there are points where this user is right, there are also points where it spoils.

Let's see, one of the points where I agree with you is in the design of the respective mothers of Sam, Alex and Clover, since although they do not look bad, we must also recognize that their designs this season are a copypaste of the designs of the protagonists, implying some inconsistency in that part.

As for the plot of this triple episode (it is not a movie as many think ...), it sounds interesting, as an attempt to expand the lore of the series, despite being somewhat confusing

Now, the problem I have with this criticism is that DomainMorph considers this triple episode to be mostly bad just for a character, and on top of that, a character which would be ridiculous to take it seriously. I'm talking about Mandy, a character who I can't understand why much of the fandom of the series detests her, being that she is one of these meme characters (from my point of view, of course ...), that is, a kind of Satire towards the popular girl stereotype that we see in several TV series and in some movies. I say this because although Mandy has that arrogant, snobbery and somewhat cruel attitude, we must also admit that she has taken more than one laugh because that attitude is satirically caricatured. Therefore, it makes me ridiculous to take a character like Mandy very seriously, to the point of considering her a lousy character for the same reason.

In summary, the triple episode is regular, but the criticism on the part of DomainMorph pales a lot of objectivity, since a large part of it only limits itself to blaming a character that should be taken as a meme. That's it.

I hope there are no absurd reprisals towards my opinion. Thank you.

Ojalá no haya represalias absurdas hacia mi opinión. Gracias.

"This was Totally Spies other movie."

"Totally Busted!" is a three-part episode, NOT a movie.

I actually liked the actual movie(the one where it shows the origin of how Sam, Clover and Alex became spies), but even i admit this wasn't that good, but i still love the show

Yeah after watching a bunch of episodes from the series (especially season 5 which had actual story arcs) I realized it isn't as bad as I stated. Sure it's sexist in every single way possible, but I find the Spy stuff interesting and the main girls aren't totally awful, I've seen worse protagonist *Cough* The Charmed Ones *Cough* I actually kinda like this show. It's somewhat of a guilty pleasure though.

even i can admit most of the time the girls act like stereotypes(only liking boys based on appearance and dumping them after like one date for minor problems), but i enjoy the show and watch it when i don't have anything else to do and consider it more enjoyable than Winx Club

To be fair, the designs of their mothers from an older episode of the show were a
lot better and more realistic than this (from the Day Spa episode where they
fought against Tim Scam). I don't really know why they decided to become lazy
with them this time. Maybe they just plum forgot what they looked like?

That's what I was thinking. The mothers of Sam, Clover and Alex look like older versions of themselves.

Yeah that's where I was coming at. In the Day spa episode their mothers looked completely different with overall different designs, I have no idea why they suddenly forgot about that episode and stripped the mother's designs away.

Maybe it's because it was the first season and they haven't decided on what should be finalized? But either way, yeah this was cheap.

This would have been better if this was the plotline.

Gabi, Carmen and Stella were spies in their youth and while they fear for their daughters they accept their choice as spies, they even tell them stories that they even met their father's as spies. Soon they bump into Phoebe (Mandy's mom) which made the mothers nervous and when Phoebe got into an accident she started to regain certain memories.

It's later revealed that Phoebe was an evil spy who Gabi, Carmen and Stella fought with constantly, and on their last mission they were sent to destroy Phoebe who was the top spy in the evil organization and they were about to sent off the spy sassin suds to destroy all the good spies in the world. But instead, when they saw Phoebe defeated and fearful they took pity on her and had WOOHP erase her memories as an evil spy and she lived a normal life until her accident triggered her memories of her days as an evil spy and the Scientist finds out who Phoebe is and hires her.

And so Phoebe remembers Gabi, Carmen and Stella from their younger years as spies and kidnaps them while she gives Mandy the suds to make her a super spy sassin to awaken her true potential without being a brat. And in the cart when the girls save them the mothers say:

Stella: Clover! We know who's behind this! It's Phoebe!

Clover: What!? Mandy's mom? Why would she do this?

Gabi: We don't know what happened, but she regained her memories as an evil spy and she's trying to kill us and release the suds to get rid of all spies, we're all in grave danger!

Sam: The suds!? Where did she get that- (gasps) the Scientist! But how!? We confiscated the suds when we captured him!

Alex: He must have found out who Phoebe was and made a deal with her! She must have been the one who broke into WOOHP and stole the suds!

Carmen: She's determined to finish the job from years ago! And not only that! She brought her daughter Mandy into this, she gave her the suds and now she's a spy sassin to!

Clover: MANDY! This is a total nightmare!

Stella: Tell us about it! We showed her mercy and gave her a chance to live a good life and this is how she repays us!? Trying to kill us and had the audacity to put her own daughter in danger for the sake of power!

Gabi: I knew we should have locked her up! Phoebe is pure evil!

Carmen: None of this would have happened if we had just put her in jail in the first place! We're so sorry girls! This is our fault!

Mahogany25 In reply to DomainMorph [2015-10-14 01:44:29 +0000 UTC]

It would fit the spy gene and mother/daughter plot for it as Gabbi, Carmen and Stella wanted to show mercy to Phoebe and protect their daughters and then see how Phoebe was putting her daughter in danger as well as making Mandy a bully and spoiled brat, it would piss the mother's off.

And another twist can be that Clover's father once dated Phoebe before he met Stella.

I don't really consider it a movie, more like a three-part arc. It's just the way Cartoon Network aired it as an arc that got it like that is all. But I digress. Also, I agree on the designs for the mothers. There's laziness, and then there's...narcissism, I think is the way I'm looking for here?
