Description This is the end result of the doodles I started doing yesterday.

I did not expect to 'master' a new artworking approach so quickly - and yet I am happier with this piece than I have been with the majority of my artworks to date (not that I can't continue to improve upon this style).

I feel like this is 'my style' - the one which most defines me - and this piece is probably the first to communicate that. I even think leaving some of the construction lines in the piece help to preserve its vitality - which is why some of them are still in there,

This piece took between three and four hours - which is a good turnaround for me; Most of my pieces drag on for days, weeks and months. I like being able to finish a piece of artwork the same morning or afternoon I start it so I'm probably gonna be working with this style for a while.

Hopefully having to go to work tonight won't punch a hole in my creative swing.

As usual you draw serperior so beautifully. You should really do a tutorial for this sort of thing.

It's difficult for me to put together tutorials because the way I draw changes a little with every piece I do.

Just when I think I've figured a technique out a picture throws me a curveball which makes me have to rethink everything again.

I think this peace came out beautiful, it really does look a lot more natural this way. Simple, yet having a strong charm and expression. Having 'unclean' lines and coloring definitely adds to it. I wonder what more you can do with this, because it greatly enhances the quality of your artwork.

Hopefully if I keep at it I can really make something of this approach.

I think the construction/unclean lines help to keep the piece 'alive' - maybe they even suggest movement or something.

I have to try not to get too focussed on the final outcome and learn to stay loose and free until I come to a piece like this one which leans more towards a higher finish.

I think this style looks gorgeous. I have always had a fascination for the cross-lined shading style. I know it has a name but I can't remember it for the life of me.

But I have to say, that eye is GORGEOUS.

It's called 'crosshatching' or something, but I think what I'm doing here is closer to 'texturising'.

I thought the eye came out nice too; thanks.

Crosshatching, that's it. Either way, this style looks very nice from you.

It's really cool! Even taking 3/4 hours, the composition is amazing! This eyes and with this kind of coloring really catch my eyes!

Thanks.

Hopefully I can keep developing this style because I think it embodies what I want to be doing long-term in both time taken and final outcome.
