I see what you did there...
I actually think I saw sonic do that pose somewhere before where he rubbed his nose or something in a smirking or smug way towards eggman in the games, I think... but it looks so familiar and I can't remember why exactly.

Yeah, he used to do that a lot I think.
From the top of my head, Sonic 06 was one game where he did that quite a bit, like when that crazy woman, Elise, was bandaging his arm. I'm pretty sure he's done that in Sonic X a couple of times too. He's just a little ol' nose rubber.
Maybe he keeps a magic genie in there, and rubbing it gives him his super speed.
