DOUG is sitting in on a bench, reading. NICK flops onto the bench next to him. He looks like someone who has survived a small fire and multiple small animal attacks.

NICK
"What a horrible night to have

DOUG
Huh?

NICK
What "huh"? This is serious!

DOUG
What's your problem man?

NICK
Sorry. God, today's been just
                Screwed up.

DOUG
        What happened? You look like
        Hell.

NICK
        Thanks for noticing. I've
        been in hell today. Everything
        bad that could happen today,
        happened.

DOUG
                That sucks man. Sorry to hear-

NICK
No man. You don't get it. I
don't mean stupid stuff. It's

                Everything is Trying to Kill Me!

DOUG
        Alright man, stop freaking out!

                        NICK
        I'm not freaking out! I was
        Almost hit by a car! My
        computer caught fire! I was
        attacked by bats! Goddamn bats!

        DOUG
        Whoa. Are you serious? I mean,
        bats? I didn't even know we had
        bats…maybe spiders, but bats…

                        NICK

DOUG

NICK
               Yeah, you! Come on man! You're
               the only person I can count on.
               I don't think I can survive
               the rest of the day. Don't you
               know this stuff?

                        JAKE
I can't help you man. Try a
                church.

NICK
With the way today's going,
                I'll be lucky if I don't end up
                getting shot by a nun. Thanks.

Nick leaves. Doug picks up his book, smirks.
