Description
Get It Here: [link]STAND ALONE STACK
From Chris'n'Soft, the same guy who gave us Visual Tool Tip, comes StandaloneStack, a small freeware app that allows you to open a folder from your Quick Launch bar. You can view your open folder in 'grid' mode, or 'fan' mode (just like a Mac OS X). Fairly easy to install and configure- it took me about 10 minutes once I settled down and actually read the instructions
This works on Windows XP and Vista, and is quite handy for opening commonly used folders. It looks pretty impressive as well (Isn't that what modding is all about?) Very easy to use, once installed.
If you can't make out the instructions that come with the software,
Copy and Paste these to Notepad:
1. Make sure you're running Windows Vista or Windows XP.
Once you've unzipped the folder, move it to your favorite spot, OFF the desktop. I put mine in C:.
Now, go to the place where you put the folder 'standalonestack' and open it. You'll see an icon that says StandAloneStack.exe. RIGHT click on it, mouse toward the bottom of the menu and choose "create shortcut'.
2. Once the shortcut appears ( it will look just like the original exe), right click on it and scroll down until you find ' Properties'.
Click on that. Look for a tiny long window toward the top called 'Target". It will be highlited, usually in blue. At the end of all the words in Target, leave a space and type the name you want to call your folder. Example: My Documents. At this point it doesn't matter what you call it. Just make sure it's at the end of the highlighted string.
3. Light a doob. If you don't smoke, grab a Dew.
4. LEFT click on the shortcut you created, and you'll see a menu of two possibilities. "What folder do you want to open?" and "What icon would you like to use?" Use the "Browse" button on the right of each question to make your choice.
5. Move the shortcut you just edited to your desktop. From there, drag and drop it onto your Quick Launch. If you don't have Quick Launch enabled, right click the START button and enable it in Taskbar properties.
6. Click the icon you just dropped onto your Quick Launch. If you followed these instructions, a folder grid will pop up. To fine-tune your folder, hold down the CTRL button and click on the icon. Do this for each folder you'd like to add.
7. Call your girlfriend and brag. If you're not dating, round up the usual Decepticons and show off your new PC.

Read the 'Artist's Comments. That's where the links to the software are.

It works fine on my Vista, RockStar, I don't see why it wouldn't on 7, unless some Superbar feature gets in the way.

I've posted a set of instructions in the Artist's comments. Copy and paste them onto Notepad. I think you'll get it in one or two tries. It took me 3, so don't get discouraged.

Actually, at first I just liked it cause it lookes cool, but now I'm finding it pretty handy. Fun Gizmo!
PS: Have you noticed the number of people who've accidentally downloaded the screenshot? I always how many of them walk away dissapointed, and how many come back to find the actual download link. Chuckle.

Oh no, MaZ! Not stealing! We're just borrowing it. We'll bring it right back when we're finished with it.
