This was the most heart-breaking scene I've seen in a movie in a long time. What makes it even more poignant isthat Nick'smotivations were born the purity of his own good-nature and honest heart, not to fight the fox stereotype (his reaction to the situation shows his innocent notions about the world: he was caught completely off-guard by their question and bullying b/c he didn't see what being a fox had to do with anything)

Poor little Nick. As I was watching the movie, I felt really sorry for him that they bullied him when he was joining that scouting group. That was really mean of the boys to strap him into a muzzle. And when he escapes from a cliquey group like that, it's like he needs his mother and feels like she was the one who really cared about him.
