This is just a project I was required to do in my compositing and 3D animation class. Was pretty easy, and I really like the result. I decided to put in a step by step composit so you can see what I do as I make my effects. Enjoy.

Actually, no. However I do use particular from time to time. These particles were created from Particle Illusion from Wondertouch . Thanks for the comment.

Hello. You will not have the project files? To upload it to rapidshare and share this wonderful project? at least the first 20 seconds: D
Thank you

dotcommer In reply to Cirkka [2009-04-27 01:06:02 +0000 UTC]

No, I will not upload the project file for this. I have already shared my process in making this piece in the breakdown. I encourage you to use the instructional resources that I have linked in my journal (creativecow.net) and your own creativity to create something even better than this. If you have questions about my process I'd be more than happy to answer them.

May I ask how you did that... "sprinkle" effect?

I was also thinking on when I'm supposed to save whatever I have done in AAE how do I save it so it won't be noisy and bad quality?

Awesome vid, btw!

The particles falling was created in a program called "Particle Illusion", a great 2D particle program.

As for rendering, when you export your work from AE, you should go to file > Export > Quicktime, and the settings should be set to either h.264, or "none" (which would mean NO compression what so ever, which is the best you can do for your work), and be sure to set the quality to high, and the passes to multi pass. That should get you a good render without being noisy and bad quality.

Hmm, I just got Particle Illusion, but I think it's quite hard to learn

where did you say to set h.264 or "none"? what do you recommend

U done it in 30 minutes???? God... u r amazing. I wish to ask you about the particles effect when the box rotates and sort of exploded... can u briefly explain wat u did? Thx~

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dotcommer In reply to gill85 [2009-03-26 05:52:25 +0000 UTC]

Sure. The box it self jumps up and spins really fast while fading out. Then I created a particle emitter and placed it over the spinning box. The two on top of each other visually create the illusion that the box is dissolving into particles. Hope that helps explain it!

wat did u do to the particles? it jus go down and spread like tat when u start emitting it? tats pretty natural though.

dotcommer In reply to gill85 [2009-03-28 19:15:45 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, by playing with the gravity and weight of the particles the program dynamically created the way those particles fell.

i loved your work much. y don't u put a download option for it. iv need it please. me too planning for a short film, n very eager to design my logo ........ hw shud i download this?

dotcommer In reply to jeevan52 [2009-03-16 21:12:49 +0000 UTC]

I do not allow downloading because it is my work and I don't like others holding on to copies of my work. If you want to use this as reference for making your own logo, thats fine, and you can keep coming here to view it, but you can not download it, alter it, etc.

Could you send me the audio files you used in this sequence? I would really appreciate it. I'm doing an intro sequence and I really liked the sound effects. Thanks.

Its been a long time now. The project is archived on a separate hard drive back at school, so I don't have access to it right now. I think when I made this though, all my sound effects came from Flashkit.com

Also, if you want a good investment of your money, I'd suggest getting Andrew Kramer's Sound FX . Its come in handy quite a bit for me. It has a lot of great sound effects, drum beats for chases, etc.

He also has another one with cinematic sounding scores perfect for short films. Maybe a possible christmas / birthday gift idea? haha.

maybe there should have been a little more space between the mirrored and non mirrored horizon

dotcommer In reply to kmkl [2008-04-13 01:01:44 +0000 UTC]

If I did that, it would imply that the pixel was floating in the air, and thus the animation would not make sense because it is actually bouncing on a flat, reflective surface.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kmkl In reply to dotcommer [2008-04-13 01:20:54 +0000 UTC]

well not necessarily, when Apple Inc employs the reflective thing in videos they always leave a bit

nevertheless, gr8 animation and breakdown of the components
