Description So its been a while since ive taken a dive into 3D modeling... last time I worked on a 3D program, it was Maya, being taught by a teacher who was learning the program as he was teaching (yeah.. not very effective). That class killed my love for 3D modeling. Just recently I got introduced to Cinema 4D studio from my boss. He taught me the program along with a few vid tutorials, and this is my first complete work. This work is to demonstrate modeling, with advanced features like bends and nurbs primatives, as well as textures, bump mapping, and volumetrics.

I have to say, im really starting to like 3D modeling again. I like this program much more than Maya, because its very straightforward... almost like Motion is the middle version of shake; Cinema 4D studio is the middle version of Maya or other way up there programs.

Time spent: 1hr 20min.

Well, if you're planning on actually using your 3D skills in a career, you should get used to Maya for movie effects or 3D Studio Max for computer game modeling. They're the most used programs by far, with Zbrush and Houdini coming in very not close second and third. And since Alias and Autodesk are one company now, the future of 3D programs is about to change....

nope, will never venture into 3D animation as a career. This i think, can safely be claimed as a "hobby".

Alright, enjoy it then.
I recommend Zbrush for lots of modeling and texturing fun. Instead of moving individual vertices like in Maya and 3DSMax, you actually mold the model like you would mold clay. It's a lot of fun!

cool cool. let me know if you have any questions about 3D modeling in general, or specifics for Maya or 3DSMax.

if only i had enough time and a tutor at the minimalist to teach me the baiscs, tutorials are one thing, but having a teacher or a human teach is so much more... intimate lol, i could bring heroes caling to life.... but i'll have to settle with comics tilli can find a company whos willing to give a pilot issue a shot...

I find video tutorials are the best. With those I can actually see an instruction in action, and if I miss something, I just need to pay more attention and watch it over again.
