Very nice, I love the poses and expressions. I think why the dots didn't work as well is because if you look at old comics back then, the color palette was incredibly limited so it was very hard to do shading and most colors were flat and localized. So basically you can't just throw the dots on and expect it to look old. I don't think you need to make it look like an old comic cause it looks cool as is but if you want that feel, just look up old comics and see their color palette.
