Hey guys,

Here's another story from me! Unlike HIGTB, this one is gonna be multiple chapters. Art was done by the awesome and talented  Gubblenub -  www.deviantart.com/gubblenub

As always, you can view the story in its original, uninterrupted form here. I have to chop it up for DA into multiple parts because it's multiple images.  www.giantesscity.com/forum/vie…

Enjoy!

“Oh come on, it’s not that bad is it?” Michelle laughed, her eyes fixed on the boy next to her. She was quite pretty, despite her slender build. Her golden, honey-blonde hair shone in the sun, done up as always in her usual single braid style. Her eyes were a beautiful, vibrant green, and when she laughed they almost seemed to glow, but more often than not they were fixed meekly on the ground in front of her.

“It might as well be! This class is seriously kicking my butt…” Jeremy told her. Her companion was in many ways her opposite - tall, boisterous, and quite handsome to boot. They were just leaving lecture, Physics 202, and as they descended the stone steps of Jefferson Hall the weary look on Jeremy’s face said it all.

“It’s really bad,” He continued, “Sometimes I just feel like a goldfish… Professor Kim will say something and I just won’t understand her at all. ”

“I suppose her accent really doesn’t help things much…” Michelle offered.

“Right?!” Jeremy agreed immediately, throwing his arms out in exasperation, “How come the hardest classes are always taught by the teachers with the thickest accents?!”

Sam walked on ahead of the pair, letting them talk and staying uncharacteristically quiet. For now she would be silent, putting one athletic leg in front of the other as she walked ahead silently. She was the third wheel, she knew, but that was okay. That was on purpose. She glanced quietly over her shoulder, smirking, her platinum blond bob tussling lightly in the wind.

“I mean seriously, by the end of the semester I think I’ll deserve a medal.” Jeremy joked.

“A medal?!” Michelle snorted in mock disbelief, “For what? Passing a second-year physics class?”

“Well yeah, why not?” He countered, grinning down at her.

“Okay, well, first of all...” Michelle began, “What about the rest of us? Will I get a medal for passing the course?”

“Nope.” He answered simply, “Just me.”

“Oh okay…” Michelle scoffed playfully, already exasperated at his childish behavior, “Well secondly… what about for any courses you take after this, huh? You know they only get harder, are you gonna want a medal for all of those too?”

“Pft, yeah! Of course!” He laughed, “Just give me all the medals. Champions deserve medals.”

“Oh please,” Though Sam wasn’t looking she could almost hear Michelle rolling her eyes, “I’m pretty sure a real champion wouldn’t have any problem with a stinking physics class.” Michelle countered, one eyebrow raised in defiance.

“Ouch…” Jeremy’s shoulders slumped in defeat. “Alright fine, no medals. At this point I would just be satisfied with a passing grade, honestly.”

“Hm…” Michelle began thoughtfully, “Have you ever thought about going in for office hours? Maybe you could get some extra help…”

“I suppose I could… I dunno…” He said uncertainty, scratching the back of his head.

Seeing an opportunity, Sam finally butted in. “Don’t you have like a 96 in that class right now Michelle?”

“Oh, uh…” Michelle stammered, her cheeks turning a rosy pink, “Yeah, I suppose I do…” She admitted shyly. She didn’t feel it was a good time to mention that her grade was actually a little higher than even that.

“Wait, really?” Jeremy balked at her, “I guess I knew you were smart, but jeez…”

“Oh, thanks!” Michelle said quickly, giggling nervously. She turned even pinker at the complement, clutching her hands tightly.

Sam rolled her eyes. ’C’mon Michelle…’ For someone so booksmart, Michelle was frustratingly hopeless when it came to guys. After a few moments of silence it was clear to Sam that nothing else was going to be said, so she decided to step in again - and this time a little more directly.

“Why don’t you tutor him Michelle?” Sam asked, “Y’know, since you know so much and all...”

“Oh! Uh...” Michelle coughed in surprise, “Well, I suppose I could… I mean if Jeremy wants me to, that is...”

Without missing a beat, Jeremy enthusiastically replied “Yeah! Definitely, let’s do it!” He laughed, surprising Michelle. She was taken aback, surprised that he was even open to the idea in the first place.

“R-Really?” She didn’t know what to say. “But where would we even go?”

“Well, you could come to my place!” Jeremy answered, though after seeing the surprised look on her face and the light blush he added, “...Or uh, heh, I guess we could just go to the library… that would make more sense…” He laughed nervously.

“No, your place is fine.” Michelle replied quickly, unknowingly making Sam pump her first. “…Are you free tomorrow?”

“Oh, tomorrow’s no good,” Jeremy hissed, apologetically scratching the back of his head,  “What about Thursday? Sometime that night?”

“Yeah, I think I can manage that!” Michelle answered quickly, almost too loudly.

Sam smirked to herself as the two continued to gab, laughing at her friend’s barely contained enthusiasm but also silently cheering. After weeks of pulling teeth and coaxing Michelle out of her comfort zone Sam had finally succeeded in getting Michelle a date with her crush. Well, she supposed it wasn’t exactly a date, but they’d be alone late at night. Maybe Michelle would surprise her, or maybe Jeremy would pull his head out of his ass and see what was so obviously there right in front of his face.

It had been a painful few weeks for Sam. She was almost certain that Jeremy liked Michelle too but he was agonizingly dense. Hint after hint went whizzing over his head… Sam had done just about everything besides just explicitly telling him. Thankfully, it looked like she wasn’t going to need to.

Michelle had been even worse though. She was a shy, stuttering mess when she had first arrived at RCU. Sam blamed that stupid all-girls school that her parents had put her in for so long, Saint McCarthy’s or something like that, along with the fact as an incoming freshman Michelle had few friends here besides herself. Sam was a junior, and had introduced her childhood friend to many of her friends that she had made here on campus, but none of them had really brought her out of her shell like Jeremy. He was admittedly kinda cute, though he wasn’t Sam’s type.

“Oh, shoot!” Jeremy cursed, “Well, here’s my turn... I guess I’ll see you Thursday?”

“Yeah,” Michelle agreed dreamily, her emerald irises glinting at him, “I’ll see you then.”

Sam stayed silent as she slowed down, letting herself fall back and walk alongside Michelle. Michelle was too caught up in her own head to notice the giant, cheeky smirk spreading across her best friends face.

“So… You guys gonna make out?”

Michelle coughed, spluttering and choking on her own tongue. “Sam!” She hissed at her, looking back at Jeremy’s retreating form to see if he had heard. She put a steadying hand on her sternum, taking a deep breath when she saw that he was clearly out of earshot.

“Would you shut up?” Michelle whined, turning beet red. Sam playfully hip checked her in response, eliciting a yelp from the embarrassed girl.

“Oh come on, I’m just having a little fun with you is all.” Sam chided, delighted by her friend’s adorable reaction. “Seriously, I’m happy for you… and your date.”

Michelle opened her mouth to object, but then closed it again as a small smile worked its way onto her face. With her gaze locked shyly on the concrete path in front of them, Michelle quietly thanked her.

The two continued on for a few more blocks, chatting about this and that as they walked. They were on the path home. They lived together so it was only natural that they walked home together. That’s why it confused Michelle when Sam bid her farewell.

“You’re not coming home?” Michelle asked her.

“Nah, I can’t” Sam replied simply, jerking her thumb over her shoulder “I gotta go to the library. There’s this book I need for my English Lit. class, I’m gonna go check it out. Plus I should probably get some studying done. I might not be back until later.”

“Oh... Alright then.” Michelle bid her farewell, and Sam made the three block walk by herself to the university library. That was the nice thing about living on campus. The apartments may be small and sometimes a little cramped, but at least they were within walking distance of mostly everything. After only a few minutes she came upon the old brick building, crowds of students passing both in and out of its big glass doors as she approached.

‘Oh my godddd… I’m ssssoooooo borrrreeedddddd...’

Ygg sat silently on her shelf, having unluckily popped into existence there long ago. She had grown to curse every day that passed, though the constant 24/7 flourescent lighting made it difficult to keep track of how long it had actually been. Time was nothing to her, but boredom dulled her ancient mind from within her leather-bound prison. She was trapped on this plane, stuck in this cursed library and at the mercy of the quantum fluctuations of this realm.

It had been quite some time since the last good game.

Little wisps of energy tickled the edges of her senses, natural little eddies that the humans kicked up as they skittered near her. So many had come and gone, and some had come frustratingly close, but never close enough - at least not until today.

Ygg felt her presence approaching, it was coming right this way. As it came closer and closer, deeper within her sphere of influence Ygg was able to reach out. She could feel her thoughts and feelings, and as she lingered Ygg was able to dig deeper than that.

“Ah, Sam huh?” Ygg mused to herself, finding the woman’s name among other things. As Sam approached Ygg continued to probe her mind, accessing some of her deeper, more carnal secrets. After all, that was always where the really fun stuff was - the stuff that she could work with. After only a short while of this Ygg could already tell.

‘This is going to be a fun game!’

“Huh, this really doesn’t look like the Literature and Fiction section…”

-SLAM!-

“Oh fuck!”

Sam jumped out of her skin, covering her mouth when she realized that she had basically screamed in a library. She spun to face the loud noise that had startled her. This dark, dusty part of the library was pretty old and kinda creepy and she was already a little on edge. She wondered if she was even allowed to be back here.

Seeing nothing at first, Sam let out a sigh of relief before spotting the book on the floor. Her eyebrow raised in intrigue, and sheer morbid curiosity made her reach for it. Picking it up, she saw the cover was… odd… to say the least.

‘Sam…’

Sam’s eyes widened at the sound of her name, spoken in a voice that barely sounded human. She looked around briefly, glancing through the gaps in the dusty shelves and seeing nothing, nobody else.

No one had followed her in, and to the best of her knowledge there hadn’t been anyone in the room when she entered. That left only…

"...Only you." Sam finished her thought, looking at the book. It was the only thing that made sense. Well, it didn't make sense - it was a talking book - but it was the only thing, no matter how ridiculous, that was left.

"Huh. So a talking book…" She pondered aloud, her eyes wide in wonder. The hair on the back of her neck prickled, beginning to stand in intrigue. Her common sense told her to throw the book as hard as she could, but for some reason her curiosity wouldn't let her.

"I've gotta see what this is about…" Forgetting what she had come to the library for in the first place, she carried the book over to one of the many tables provided for students. She made sure to take one that was far away from anyone else.

Setting the book down, she took a breath and blew the dust off the cover. 'Jeez, how long has this thing been here?'  The cover was in a language that she couldn't place, written with symbols like none that she had ever seen before. She couldn’t possibly hope to read them… but as time went by and she stared blankly at the pages little snippets of meaning would flash into her brain. Somehow she could understand it… at least in small pieces at a time.

“It’s a... a spellbook?” She asked under her breath, the strange symbols allowing her to determine at least that much about it. “As in like… magic spells?”

She opened the cover, seeing more of the same strange lettering scratched across the yellowed pages. As she thumbed through it she found more of the same. Though the letters were foreign to her they continued to somehow still convey their meaning - rituals, instructions... It was certainly very convincing, and it seemed like the real deal to her.

“This is… this is amazing!” She poured over the pages, becoming lost in her fascination. Time slipped by. In the artificial fluorescent light of the library she didn’t notice as the minutes became hours and the sun sunk below the horizon. It wasn’t until much later, and after much more struggling that she finally glanced at her phone.

“Jeez... is it really that late already?” She lamented, stretching her arms high above her head. Her significant bust stretched in front of her. Michelle would be wondering about her soon.

“Hm, I wonder if Michelle would like something like this…” She closed the book and tucked it under her arm, heading for the check out desk.
