Screw jumping into haystacks losing all that height at once. I'd go batman style and use a special cape to glide and enjoy the view and long breezy sailing. But keep a grapnel to make my landing a happy one. I reel back onto a roof where I could glide off again.

In her universe, giant soft cushions are the equivalent of haystacks, so I dunno why she's all weirded out about it.

Giant soft cushions and haystacks are pretty different.Β

Yeah, but they're functionally the same, ie they're both used as objects to land on to avoid taking damage from high falls.

Tbh Desmond X Faith is more realistic, I prefer that now.
I have a whole theory about how the games are connected.

I never had any problems with getting around in Mirror's Edge. Can't remember any glitches too.

In GTA: San Andreas, you can only grab ledges, railings, and walls you can reach by jumping.

....but then, parkour/free-running isn't the core mechanic of Grand Theft Auto [sic], and Mirror's Edge absolutely FAILS at it, despite being built around it; Assassin's Creed gets it right from the beginning, despite the odd bad angle sending you leaping out into the middle of an intersection five stories up.

I like how mirror's edge actually feels like you're actually "free running" when in assassin's creed it's just holding two buttons down and running at a bunch of buildings. That being said, I'm a huge fan of both games for different reasons but I say mirror's edge did a better job with movement.

How are you doing anything different in MirEd? Mebbe hitting a button to slide under a duct.
See, I remember all the information and stuff promoting the fluidity of the running, and that there'd be visual cues for where to go.
If you don't see them DEAD STOP. And no chance for recovery if you miss a jump or go down the wrong way... or encounter a guard and screw up the fight...
Actually, the other main problem is that for a free runner, you somehow only really have one way to go.
My friend and I had to trade off attempting to do this. one. jump. it took something like THIRTY TRIES. Perhaps we were both woefully incompetent, but I call that a design problem; there were many similar ones -though none quite so serious- and the completely ruin the free-run effect.
Maybe the PS4 version is bugged. I dunno. But I tried to power through it, and I had to just stop.
Don't get me wrong, I like the look of it, he style, and I hope the new Edge is... sharper on the movement and fluidity fronts; and perhaps I'd have a different experience if I played MirEd now, but AC wins this battle due to actually working as advertised.

I also hope that Mirror's Edge 2 is a bit better, I'm tired of the glitches and being able to kick in mid air in order to get a double jump. However I played through mirror's edge (pc) and never had to try a jump more than 4 times. also every time I play I take a new route. Of course you have to travel in a certain direction in order to reach the same destination but you can get there many different ways. With AC I don't even consider the "free running" in it a real feature of the game. It's more of a thing to show the abilities of the character. Mirror's Edge you have to time your movements and keystrokes in order to get places. Ac is really just judging the distances between jumps. Not to mention that (at least on pc) if you press alt it points you the direction of your next objective. Also the point of the game is to use the mechanics the game provides like wall runs in order to reach places creatively. not necessarily directly.
I hear the new Mirror's Edge is going to be open world so I hope you will find more ways to get to your destination and enjoy it a lot better. Also they said they were revamping a lot of movement stuff in the new one so I hope you enjoy the new one better than the old

Mirror's Edge is a HARD game, even on easy mode. It challenges me like no other game has, and I respect it for that.

yeah, I love it for that very reason. sorry korblorp but it sounds like the only real reason you don't like mirror's edge is because it's hard xDΒ

People will get angry at me for saying this, but I think that's why Sonic O6 got so much hate.
Personally, I love the game. It's my 3rd favourite.
As for Mirror's Edge, 6th, but bear in mind I've only had it for about a month.

it's sad how so many people hate certain games just because they're difficult. It really blinds them from a lot of great games.

Yeah. Personally, I'm not the best gamer out there, but when I find a challenging game I like it, because it helps me improve, as it requires skill to play. Sometimes it's not the game's fault, but the player's, and people have to understand that just because they can't beat the game, it isn't shit. The controls for ME are a bit odd, but I think that makes it more of an acquired skill. You can't just play it and expect to beat it straight away, you have to learn and get used to it.
