I like the mood and the idea. I'd rather see you paint it than use Poser models, though.

Yeah, I have had that piece for over ayear and a half. Never felt like posting it. I decided to do it just to see how many views it got. It did quite well my my meager viewings tandards.

Lol! It's quite interesting what gets views and what doesn't, isn't it?
Do you still work with Poser? I've played around with DAZ studio some. It's fun, but the models all still look like Poser models. It's my main complaint with Poser and DAZ.

Helen,
I have not done much work with Daz recently. I deeply respoct people who do 3d modeling of the human form. I hope to do it myself some day. BUt the fact that I take a few existing models and arrange them in poses and get more views than my actual personal art is an indication that my skills are fucking bullshit. It is pretty depressing. If I had made these models I would feel diffently.
It is not that I think the idea and poses behind this work are completlely without merit, but one could train a reasonably unclever chimpanzee to crank this shit out.
Very disconcerting. Whatever. It is not as if I did not realize my affectations were shere vanity....

I don't think it's any reflection on your skills as an artist. Sadly, I doubt if it would have gotten nearly as many views if the women were clothed. I agree that posing Poser/Daz characters doesn't take a lot of skill and no one can convince me otherwise. However, there is some skill involved in the lighting and making the poses actually convincing.
The model of the leg you made was a very nice start. Most of the models of humans I see posted when people are just venturing into organics are either simple tubes thrown together, or they're barely recognizable. I think the fact that you made a leg that was not only recognizable as such, but also had recognizable muscles speaks volumes for your potential.
Don't let a certain chat situation, or the views you've recieved on this picture bug you. It's not unknown that nudity gets you more views here. I think there are plenty of good artists with good taste in art that reside here, but they are frequently drowned out by the more fleeting and shallow people who want to see naked people, or cartoons, or naked cartoons...
Your paintings and drawings are wonderful. The fact that you can use colors so expressively is beyond the scope of most people's abilities. I love dA and I find it a fun place, but cgtalk is the place to go for really building your artist skills. Catch me in chat and I'll show you to the Artistic Anatomy and Traditional Media forum, which is one of the best places I know of on the internet to get truly great constructive criticism. Also, they have fun lessons, contests, and challenges that really help people improve their skills. I think you would really enjoy it there and people won't pay more attention to you based on the clothing level of your subject matter, they're grown up enough to care about the art.

Posing things in poser is not, in and of itself, necessarily very artistic. But for me the image is everything. It doesn't necessarily matter how one gets there if the image is compelling. There is a lot of bigotry from natural media artists toward digital. In fact, I saw one artist in a book complaining that digital makes it all too easy for everyone to be an artist. Well, I am sorry but that is BS. It still isn't easy to be an artist, and what bloody difference does it make if you are painting in oils or Corel oils? If you can get the look you want and if you can create a compelling image, why make it harder just to make it harder. That strikes me as a kind of puritanism, and I resist the thought as much as I can.
I appreciate your comments about my colors, and yeah, I guess I should head over to cgtalk. I really do need to find people who can tell me how to do things better.
Thanks for the comment.
