Description
The stresses of being the spokespeople for the great deity, Mothra, allow little respite. However the Shibojin find some to cleanse their bodies under the watchful eye of the Guardian...Finished! WHoo! This one was a challenge, and I think came through okay. Got to play with some reflective light sources for both the Shibojin, and got to have a bit of fun with the perspective with Mothra on the cliff.

First off, I think I am going to have to get this off my chest. When it comes to art that deals with the nude….I’m just not one for that. It often times results in a series of conflicting thoughts and emotions in my little brain. The reasoning art side of me, identifies the beauty of the forms and elegance of the line work. And at the same time, the awkward and often time socially challenged personality part of me,….shies away and feels weird from it.
Hell, I remember walking into my college classroom late one day. It was in an advance drawing class. We were gong to be drawing a nude model. I knew this. But I had no idea who the model was though. All I knew, was that I was running late and my teacher was going to be pissed at me. So surprise, surprise, when I walked through the door and saw the most amazingly beautiful angel just standing on the stage. She was….breathtaking. One of the most gorgeous creatures I have ever laid eyes on. The epitome of the ideal female form…..And she was completely in the nude. And what was my first reaction!!! I closed my eyes and turned away and profusely apologized to her for looking. YEP! That’s me. The moron! The idiot! The man that knew there was going to be a nude model….and apologized to that said nude model for looking…..
*Sigh*……..Sorry, I just had to get that out so that you and others can understand where I come from when I don’t comment on art that deals with this type of subject matter to it. I’m not a person that enjoys conflict and I usually back away from things that give me conflicting feelings. Especially when they are attributed to such an embarrassing moment in my life lol.
Alright….so now that we have gotten that out of the way….let’s see if I can structure a coherent thought to describe this piece of unusual kaiju art.
First off, it is breathtakingly colored. They might be a bit “fake” and seem oversaturated…but honestly that is the type of color I personally enjoy. It makes everything pop a bit more. It reads better from a distance and certainly does capture the viewer’s eye. The lush greens and blue do make the characters leap off the page.
And the perspective is really good here too. It sort of comes off as looking through a key hole and seeing an entire world. That does give me a whole host of odd feelings, because it is me referencing someone peeking; an act that is often times associated with immoral behavior. And art that deals with two nude female characters. See; that’s the conflicting feelings that keep coming back to gnaw at my over analyzing brain again….
It’s a great piece of art that does come off more elegant and genuine than say something that is along the lines of “K-Girls”. A piece of pseudo kaiju art fandom, that frankly I have no appeal to at all. Sorry guys, that’s not my cup of tea.
I have to commend you for always thinking outside of the box though when it comes to your kaiju artwork. While the subject matters might not be for everyone’s taste…I think one can safely say that your pieces are always done with a meticulous eye for detail and craftsmanship.
