Since it's relevant, here's an explanation for why I refer to Innyna as an Incubus. Normally in western media, an incubus and a succubus are more or less the same with the difference being male or female. That would naturally make Innyna a succubus, but those demons are portrayed a bit differently in the Pathfinder/D&D hybrid game that my friends and I are running. In our game, an incubus and succubus are the same species of demon known as a concubus, and whether or not they are a succubus or incubus comes down to personality and culture rather than gender. Breaking down the entomology of the names, incubus comes from the Latin word Incubare, meaning "to lie upon" whereas succubus comes from the Latin word Sucubare, meaning "to lie beneath." Using the word concubus as the name of their demonic species comes from the Latin word Comcubare, meaning "to lie with." So, if the names define whether you're a top or a bottom, we interpret that into our narrative as a cultural difference rather than basing it on gender. As an example of expanding on that premise, a succubus will lure in their prey, letting the individual come to them whereas the incubus will actively pursue their prey. Under this context, Innyna is an incubus, as she will often go out of her way to create seductive circumstances and even made numerous attempts towards Nefra before they became romantically involved.

While we're on the topic and I'm feeling chatty, here's the breakdown for how being a concubus works in our lore, and what Innyna being an incubus means for Nefra...

All concubi in our game survive via animosynthesis, the process of consuming another person's animous (soul energy) in order to survive. However, it would take three separate feedings, which can be consecutive if desired, to fully consume a soul, killing the victim and permanently destroying their soul. Such an act is unfavorable though, as murder draws unwanted attention and there's no chance of repeat business. After becoming romantically invested in Innyna, Nefra volunteered her soul for Innyna to survive on. A singular feeding once every few days is all Innyna needs, and the price of that is a single point of exhaustion on Nefra. So, they usually wait until right before bed for Innyna to feed so that Nefra can recover her exhaustion and her soul is restored by morning. Yes, they most often time it to happen during the climax of sex. While many concubi survive off of willing participants, often in brothels and alike, Nefra and Innyna take it a step further. They made a demonic pact, linking their souls together. This comes with many benefits, one of which being telepathic communication at any range between any plane of existence. More importantly though, it allows Innyna to share her natural abilities with Nefra, such as her shapechanging, which gives Nefra the ability to temporarily relieve her form from being cursed (she was a full dragonborn). It's a tough blow that would leave Nefra crippled for a time if the bond was ever broken, so it is not something they entered into lightly. Normally, concubi use the pact as a way of having someone enslaved to you, bribing and blackmailing them to serve. Nefra and Innyna are taking a bit more of a wholesome approach, which other demons find anywhere from adorable to very controversial.

And one last side note: Innyna was attracted to Nefra ever since they met for many reasons, and their compatibility speaks volumes, but a desire to consume Nefra's soul was never part of her intentions when engaging romantically. She promised herself never to even ask, as her entire life has always been sustained off of manipulating victims and she never wanted Nefra to feel like it was a price of entry to Innyna's heart. After Nefra began courting Innyna, there was a time where Innyna still fed on others that she would seduce in and around brothels whenever she needed to feed. It took some time, but eventually, Nefra volunteered herself, wanting to spare Innyna the trials and risks of feeding on an unsuspecting public. They chose to time it with the climax of having sex. As Nefra is naturally a golden dragonborn, she has a tendency to breathe a little bit of fire at such moments. So as Innyna locks lips with Nefra, she takes in a portion of Nefra's soul as well as some fire, much to Innyna's delight as she can heal instantly from it and has a kink for such things. This led to Innyna's pet name for Nefra, Soulfire.
