Description I had a lot of questions about my wings at NDK 2015 which prompted me to make a quick tutorial of how I did them.

I based my process off this great tutorial fav.me/d1o5il8 by

Materials;
Needle nose pliers x2
Wire cutters
Baling wire (not sure the gauge I got. Was a spool at Walmart)
Material strips (I used left over poly blend from another costume)
Material you want the wing and membrane to be
Glue gun
Scissors
Misc (thread, needle, pins, sewing machine, extra glue)

Directions;
Create your design first. Mine was pretty simple.

1) Cut about 7-8 foot of wire. This completely depends on your size and the wings size
2) Make a straight bend in the middle to go between your shoulder blades (Mine was maybe 5 inches) This is your wing base.
3) Bend a hook shape up. This shape will rest on your shoulder to keep the wings on
4)Bend out your wing shape
5) Double back to strengthen the wing. Wrap once at where the wing would connect to the body and finish by wrapping at the base once. Cut off extra wire.
6) Repeat on the other side to make a set.
7) Cut a cross bar and wrap it at the point that would connect to body. (This is to stabilize the base)
At this point you can insert and secure the wing spikes.
8) Wrap the whole thing in strips of material. This tightens your frame and keeps it together. Glue down the strips every couple of wraps for security.
9) Trace out your pattern and sew it together.

Securing your wings to your Cosplay.
I left the ends of the shoulder rests open and sewed a hook into either shoulder of my outfit (my outfit was fake fur so they couldn't be seen). I could attach the wings to the hooks to keep them on my shoulders. The hooks made them easy to remove for prop check/dealers den.
