frantically she called outto the bird, whistled
and waited in the gloaming.
it did not so much
as glance
her way - just went on
cleaning its feathers.
and there she stood,
quietly in the dark, her hands
growing colder
as she could not even utter
a word.

I am not actually sure whether this is a progression or a paradox, as in, whether gloaming and dark indicate succession of events or simply possibility and its (lack of) realisation. If I am right, then the title is there to clue me into the latter: that inaudible mouthing of something was shouting to the anxious ear.

You're definitely thinking along the right lines. Sometimes it surprises me that people actually (explicitly) try to figure out what the underlying thoughts of my poetry are, as that hardly everΒ happens. Thank you for the effort.

It's more of a way to Anglicise it rather than how our higher education works. I essentially do a split course of linguistics and English literature. The BA takes 3 years. Depending on your point of view and the shape of my current enthusiasm, you could view either as a major or a minor (the selection of individual lecture cycles is fairly broad, one can swing whichever way each semester)
