Ever have those moments where you think you're doing well and something just happens and throws you off your groove?

Depicted is an unfortunate driver losing the lead upon colliding off of a jump.

To ramble:
Another one of those child hood game ideas, I pictured a racing game set on a planet owned by a racing league that broadcasts its events for entertainment for the masses. (I figured replays and in-game commentators would be a big thing, playing out like a sports broadcast, similar to how Split/Second established in it's lore, but didn't really flesh out.) The working title was "High Velocity: Supercar Racing Championships", and it was to feature exaggerated racing speeds of up to 360 mph on stretches, scenic tracks, and a variety of game types, sprinkled with hype inducing sports thematics (which could be toggled off for those who don't like commentators while driving.)

It's fun to think about from time to time. I keep seeing a bunch of driving simulators and arcade racers, and I felt like having a crack at the idea based on my familiarity with games such as Need For Speed and Burnout.

And I also had this crazy idea of spectacle events, ranging from catching air and drifting on tracks to two-way races (Two races are hosted on the same track, just imagining the tension of running into oncoming drivers) and hot pursuits.
