Masquerade Showjumping for the Dream Breather Autumn Carnival !

Featuring: 089 Snokomo

'Well this is something new...' Snokomo watched his human strapping odd things onto him. He never had this done to him. He'd witnessed many autumns but never with this much attention. None of it bothered him, Sno was just curious as to why. He watched his human, which the other humans called Taiyo, pull out some huge feathery-looking wings. They were attached to a girth that Taiyo cinched to Sno.
"It's okay, Sno. Don't be worried."
'Worried? About what?' Sno could see that the girth with the wings looked like he was wearing wings now. He nickered, 'Heh! I'm a pegasus now!'
Taiyo pulled out another feathery thing but it was much smaller. He approached Sno's face, "This will complete your look, buddy! You're going to look so cool when you soar over the jump." He placed it carefully over Sno's face, tying it carefully in place.
Sno thought it was odd at first. He could still see and smell but he could feel whatever it was on his face. 'What is the point in this thing!? Is it a horn? Am I a pegasus and a unicorn!? Oh I hope so! That would be so cool!'
Taiyo put a lead rope around Sno's neck and led him from the stall, "Here, you can see in this mirror over here. You look so cool!"
Sno willingly followed his human. They shared a pretty good bond. Taiyo was the first human to really "listen" to Sno. They got along very well and were almost like friends instead of horse and rider. There was a level of respect between them that the other riders weren't able to find in Sno.
Sno looked into the reflective surface on the wall near the tack room. He lifted his head up high with ears perked forward. 'Wings! And- oh....is this...an owl's face?' Sno glanced down at his legs. He thought Taiyo was just putting the polo wraps on him like he does every practice ride. They were different. There were plastic bird legs on them today. Sno turned his head, trying to figure out what Taiyo was going for here....
Taiyo chimed in, "What's that face for? It's an owl costume! See? When you go over a jump, you'll bring your legs up and it'll look like an owl swooping in for the kill!"
Sno snorted, 'That sounds so cool!'
Taiyo patted Sno's neck, "That's how I feel about us..."
Sno looked at his human.
Taiyo grinned, "Swooping into competitions, taking the spotlight, winning....pfft, I'm just glad I've got a friend like you Sno. Even if you are a horse."
They stood quietly for a while until Taiyo broke the silence, "Well! Let's makes some haste, bud! We've got a stellar jump set up for Halloween! You'll look so cool!"

**Later**

Sno saw the jump in the woods. It did look pretty cool with the vines and lights. He was feeling pretty excited to jump it. It wasn't even that high but he really wanted to know what it was like to jump with wings. 'Maybe I can jump even higher!'
Taiyo lined him up with the jump and took the lead rope off. They didn't need a pen or arena to trust each other. Sno could jump anywhere and Taiyo wouldn't have to worry about him running off.
Taiyo gave Sno a pat on the shoulder, "It's all yours buddy!"
Sno lunged into a canter. He centered himself up and took the leap. As he flew over the jump, he could feel the drag on the wings. It almost felt like he was getting a lift. As he tucked his front legs in, he remembered what Taiyo said about swooping in for the kill. Sno felt a smile as he easily cleared the jump and landed on the other side. He vaguely remembered the orange lights sweeping over him like a spotlight. He turned to Taiyo who was still on the other side with both arms up, cheering. 'Swooping into competitions, taking the spotlight, winning...Yea!'

My first piece for the Autumn Carnival! Oh! I put a lot of work into this! I also remembered why I don't do a lot of jumping poses xD So hard to get the anatomy looking like a horse! I had a lot of fun designing the jump too! I haven't really done that before so naturally I messed up a little lol There's nothing really holding the standards up xD lmao I found it kind of funny and wasn't going to fix it lolz!
Sno was so cute for this too! I couldn't think of what to do for his costume for so long! But this was the first thing I came up with and I stuck with it! I like owls :3 thought maybe a raven would be better suited for a Halloween theme but I just love owls more xD
Happy Halloween!~ I hope to get the other pieces done soon too! I love this holiday so much!
