Without any warning, the green mixture began overflowing from the container that he was carrying. Perhaps mixing in that catalyst had been a mistake? David tried to step away from the puddle it was forming around his feet, but to his surprise found that he was stuck. The green goo had crawled over his shoes and was rapidly climbing up his legs.

When David realized the goo was crawling up his hand as well he dropped the container in a panic, but it was too late. Before the container had even thudded to the ground, the slime had already traveled up his arm and over his back. There was far more of the stuff than had ever fit in the container in the first place, and the analytical part of David's mind couldn't help but wonder what sort of reaction had caused this. He watched in fascination and horror as the green goo seemed to dissolve his clothes and begin trapping his hands and feet within reptilian paws of some sort. A heavy weight on his back began threatening to topple him over, and he turned in time to see that a large reptilian tail with spines was forming. As he was distracted by the tail, a tentacle lashed upwards and latched onto his free arm, and pulled him towards the growing puddle on the ground. He barely stopped himself with one arm before falling into the mass belly first.

David struggled to get away from the puddle as more and more of the goo flowed onto his body, but no matter what he tried he stayed stuck in it. Strange sensations began spreading across his skin where ever the green slime touched him, and he realized that the stuff was fusing with him. Far too late, he remembered what the mixture was: an experimental symbiote which could transform creatures it bonded to. It seemed that he was now its first human test subject.
