HUGE FILE. DOWNLOAD AT YOUR OWN RISK O.OSO, I feel that was a pretty through tut -_-
As you'll probably come to see, the ice-wing making isn't neccessarily hard (for those with a bit of patience, lol) but it is LONG.
I didn't include how I managed to make the water coming out between the crystals because I realized it is so much easier to download some decent splash brushes or take a look at already made tutorials xD
Any questions or comments welcome. I'd love to see what ya'll would be capable of using mah little tut ^-^

Oddly enough, the first thing I used the technique on was not a wing...but a computer icon. It still worked, and it was really fun to do!
Now I'll actually have to try it on a wing. LOL

I think it could be applied to anything that requires an 'ice crystal' look. It's an excellent, yet simple, technique!

That is way too hard!, I tried and gave up at the shadow part, my wings were all squirly, this was not good at all lol.
A video tutorial would be better.

LOLOLOL You need to be PATIENT! Upload a picture of your WIP and I'll show you what steps you took on WAYYY too fast
The shading is the toughest part, especially if you're not used to drawing with a mouse. Remember, if you can see something you most definitely can draw it. You may need to go back and fix a few things because our brains like to make up stuff that either isn't there or we simply don't pay enough attention to the details because we get so overwhelmed with the image as a whole.
What I suggest is that maybe you start with making only ONE ice crystal. After you've mastered that, all that you need to do to make an ice-wing is to position your crystals in the right places. It's a long process that tears out your soul, but if you're sure it's something you NEED for YOUR art, then the the pain of it will all be worth it. Believe me, I had to make those stupid wings all by myself without ANY guidance. Painful experience, but I got a DD outta it

Do you copy the same crystal shapes, or you just draw different shapes for every crystals?

I drew a different crystal every time, but I did it that way because it looks more natural/realistic to have variations

I'm going to try & do it on my Zombie Horse as I wanted to add wings but could make the Skeletal Wings work so I think I will try the Ice Wings.

That's cause it can be! It's just a super long process >.< BUT if you stick to it, and aren't afraid to go back and fix your little mistakes, the wings are guaranteed to come out fabulous
