Description
Jan. 3, 2013.Wow, I've knocked a few things off my to-do list today!
See the other map for more information.
The yellow is the caves of the Tribe in which they stay during the monsoon season. The Tribe have the most human blood out of all denizens in Laurasia; they are survivalists, and their rare outside contact consists of seasonal trading with the Travelers.
Blue is water. Lakes, rivers, ponds, streams, tributaries, etc. It attacks wild animals and monsters, but is also home to the nymphs who live within them. It's neutral territory only because all (okay, all nonmagical...and most magical....okay, there are a few exceptions, but only a few) living things need water. However, while everyone is allowed to approach and attempt to get water, there are no restrictions on violence or magic. Come at your own risk, and respect the nymphs. Note that no nymphs are found in the central lake.
The light green is the southern forest. It is deciduous and is home to more natural wildlife and much less magic than the northern forest. The Tribe lives here and does not stray beyond the borders. It has more smaller bodies of water than the north, but in more quantity.
The pink(-ish) is the territory of the Groves. These are feral nymphs who prey on any unwary travelers and live in a matriarchal society. The majority are cherry nymphs. Some have also become cannibals. They generally are not seen face to face, but hide within the inner veil of their Groves, sending out vines and other traps to catch prey. The only known individuals to have safely interacted with the nymphs are the Reflections.
The grey is neutral territory. These are places to travel, but one must not stray beyond the borders of the path. These paths lead towards the center of the island to the Council. On the eastern and western edges, there are dangerous cliffs above the sea.
The white is forbidden territory. The first is the Council, which is a marble building in the center of an island in the middle of the central lake. There have never been any life forms found there, but after the Awakening, some of the Cousins were able to venture there. The second is the Coliseum (the spelling may change, sorry), which was the place where denizens were seasonally sacrificed and sent to battle the Antibodies, before the Awakening. The third is the Trickster's mountain, which is where the Reflections live, and is constantly lightning-struck. Denizens would likely stay away from this even if there was not strong superstition surrounding it.
The dark green is the northern forest. It is coniferous and is home to more monsters and magic than the southern forest. There are no denizen settlements here, but some monsters have settled dens/lairs/etc. or have taken ponds away from their nymphs. (I may need to add another large river or lake to keep the previously mentioned water source proportions accurate.)
The orange represents established homes of the nymphs. The first is the cottage, in which Jubilee and her acolytes, Laurel and Cerise, and the consort of a Reflection, Ericka Daisy, live together under the Trickster's protection. They are hospitable to any traveling or lost denizens in the northern forest, but all monsters keep away. The cottage tends to be plagued by squirrels as well. The second is the field of the tame northern nymphs, who tend diverse fields and regularly trade with the denizens of the sky-cities. They are the strongest connection that they sky-cities have to the ground level of Laurasia. However, few denizens below realize that these nymphs exist or have had contact with them.
The surrounding space, blue fading to white, represents the seas of Laurasia, which dissolve into the aether which surrounds the world.
