I am really proud of this. I've been working on this from 4:28pm to 8:44pm, almost four hours (though I took a break for supper). I've done this amount of time before, but that was including shading and a bunch of other detailed stuff.

I've been wanting to do this picture since November while I was coloring my Black Mail, White Christmas picture. That was the first time I heard "Media Weather" from Naqoyqatsi's soundtrack, and the moment I heard the breath-taking French Horn part this picture popped into my head. It's roughly inspired by the Cave of Mind scene from Hayao Miyazaki's Howl's Moving Castle, in case you see a slight resemblance.

Well, what's going on here? "Media Weather" is such a quiet, haunting, depressing piece; it instantly brings to mind some awesome climax in a dramatic movie (in this case, it actually brought to mind the Cave of Mind scene mentioned above). I was coloring Dreyfus at the time, so of course he popped into the imaginary scene I developed in my head. And that's when I thought: how could I blend the Cave of Mind with Dreyfus? And with a snap I remembered that comets were made of ice--therefore, Dreyfus is capable of controlling comets. *HyperactiveMothMan , my dear Texan angel, agreed with me when I later discussed it with her on the phone: awesome power.

But that's not exactly related to this picture; so again, I'll ask you, "What's happening?" I won't say just yet. You interpret the piece, then read the next paragraph, which will say my interpretation. I'd like you to comment on this picture at least stating your interpretation.

Well, I had come up with a dramatic climax for a story or movie, one that I'd never make but dearly love to picture. Dreyfus died at some point in the story, right in front of somebody who dearly loved him (i.e. Neshae or Wendy or his parents, etc.). Then at the penultimate chapter, this person is in a forest at night when a phantom deer appears and runs away. The person follows it, but skids to a stop as he/she suddenly finds him/herself out in the open. As comets rain down from the sky and light it up with an eerie glow, the silhouette of Dreyfus' ghost may be seen against the shines of the comets' bombardment. Then there's a close-up similar to that close-up in the Cave of Mind with Howl, and...well, I never really came up with anything after that.

So yeah, I made the background with digital watercolors in Corel, then I colored over the background on Paint.NET and then drew and colored and pretty much did everything else on Paint.NET. All in one day, baby.

...okay, I shall leave you all by admitting that this is astronomically inaccurate; these are technically meteors in a meteor shower, but I didn't catch this until I was almost done. So if you are an astronomy nerd like myself, I don't mind if you call them meteors.

EDIT: I almost completely forgot! Even though I am 81 pageviews away from 6,000, this is my amazingly overdue 5,000 pageview picture.
