EDIT: I have spent years despising this drawing for two reasons: my bad signature + the weird smoke curl. Finally, they're gone—still some gross spots but maybe I can move on with my life? 7/5/15

Oh Matt, bby, but they would. Multiple times. ;_;

Way too much to say about this, so I'll make it easier for you with a list:

1. I have literally spent the last week on Photoshop (nearly nonstop) painting this thing. And I don't really like how it turned out. I'm extremely tired of it right now. I obviously haven't improved as much as I thought I did because a week is just ridiculous. Why didn't I just opt for some nice unrealistic/semi-realistic style?
2. Lighting, anatomy. Just—I tried. I really did. Oh, and I gave Matt the fanon red hair because, well, that's how I imagine him.
3. Don't ask me about the perspective. I drew the thing and even I don't know what's up with it.
4. If you're smart, unlike me, you should draw your backgrounds before everything else. I had to spend a day filling in the little cracks between the hair with the ground color and erasing away the textures I put over the image so that everything fit together somehow. Was not fun.
5. The asphalt is a mixture of three textures. Zebra crossing found here: freetextures.deviantart.com/ar…
6. The blood was the most fun part to paint. I was a bit hesitant about the drips on his face (which you see in the anime) because they just don't seem physically possible to me (I mean, how does that much blood get through goggles in such a short amount of time, come on) but I added them anyway because they looked cool.
7. I invite you to tilt your head to the left. Hey, it'll probably look better.
8. I dunno if you can see them, but I've added texture to the skin, eyelashes, ashes on the cigarette, blood splatters on the ground, shine on the blood splatters on the ground, etc. Also thought about how blood would stain different fabrics...
9. I know real smoke doesn't look like that, but I felt a little style was needed for this otherwise bland picture.
10. Edits are possible and probable.
11. If you haven't read Death Note, you should check it out.
12. Has anyone here used Paint Tool Sai? I hear the blending is good. Recommend?
13. I think I'm going to lay off the digital art for a while. Maybe that's why I'm feeling so depressed. Lately, I've also been coughing a lot more than usual...

Tl;dr: I spent the last week of my life on this picture and my eyes are just about dead.
