The last time I saw, alive,The one that I love
Her face was in horror
And covered in blood
Her lips were parted
And her eyes were quite wide
I could almost see
The pain she'd felt inside
The blood was everywhere
Not just on her face
On her arms and her legs
It seemed so out of place
She stared right through me
And her hand was in mine
I wish I'd had time
To tell her goodbye
The funeral came
And I saw her once more
Her expression was different
Than what it was before
It had softened a bit
And her lips were now closed
She looked in a moment
Of quiet repose
A rose in her hand
Her makeup quite bright
She still looked beautiful
In that room of dim light
I wish she had said
Even one word to me
But it was impossible
Even that I could see
I'm sorry my friends
There is quite a bit more
To this story I tell
I'd left out before
It's true there was blood
And her eyes were wide
But she was not hurt
It was I that had died
It was my blood on her
My cuts that bled
She was in shock
While covered in red
She hugged me
And begged me
To stay till help came
But I couldn't hold on
She wasn't to blame
And on my funeral day
She passed by my bier
And there placed a rose
And shed a few tears
She said not a word
But mouthed I love you
And up to this day
I know it is true
